@agriculture@a.gup.pe @ecology@a.gup.pe 🧵 Against #methane 🚦 • Institutions should support vegetal proteins and dairy. • Social movements may target the meat industry. • Animal husbandry in the USA, Brazil, Argentina, are the emittive from enteric fermentation. Corporations should look at how other continents (not Australia) work. • Any country should ban bovine import from Brazil, Argentina, US, Australia. • Any country should castrate male calves. Particular buffalos in Pakistan & India. #beef #emissions #GHG

Changing our diets and ways of producing food is crucial to combat climate change and increase human health. A key change is lessening the impact of meat and animal products like eggs and dairy. 🧵 #FAO #animalProduction #animalWelfare #food #animal #animals #welfare #deforestation #beef #chicken #poultry #imports #exports #agriculture #freeTrade #eggs #milk #diet #dairy #publicHealth #OneHealth #inflation #GreenHouseForcing #emissions #trade

Across 165 countries, the highest GHG emissions from diet are among highly educated urban men aged 15-34. Median is 5.7 kgCO2e/day, against 2.9 for rural women aged 35-54 with low education. In others words, the impact on climate is roughly double in a group with more resources, choice, and agency. Only about half of the data centre decision-makers surveyed said they were holding public forums or investing in local initiatives, while recent national polling shows that only 33% of developers are addressing grid reliability, and only 29% are responding to water consumption concerns. The report authors suggest “a disconnect between engagement efforts and community priorities.” You’d think data centre developers would pay attention to communities…but, no. I guess at least $64 billion, 18 state bills and 86 local moratoriums proposed across the U.S. isn’t enough to convince them? #ableg #cdnpoli #emissions #electricitygrid #AIdatacentres #AIDataCenters #WonderValleyAlberta #wondervalleyUtah #stratos https://open.substack.com/pub/jodymacpherson/p/community-pushback-blocks-64b-in

Although the article is still a preprint and has not yet been peer-reviewed, the brief summary in the introduction shown in the image is worth keeping at hand. :pdf: https://arxiv.org/abs/2603.20897 #DataCentres #Emissions

Europe’s Air Quality Dramatically Improves in 10 Years, With 39-59% Drop in Industrial and Road Toxins

Air quality continues to improve across Europe, with emissions from most of the major pollutants declining by significant amounts. “The overall picture remains positive,” according to the annual Assessment Report on European Air Quality 2025, released by the Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS), an EU program that has monitored changing air pollution levels for over […] The post Europe’s Air Quality Dramatically Improves in 10 Years, With 39-59% Drop in Industrial and Road Toxins appeared first on Good News Network.

Please submit your objection to this monster coal mine expansion today. The emissions from this project (over a biollion tonnes of CO2) are equivalent to 2.5x the annual emissions for Australia. The expansion of LNG depends on the support of banks and asset managers who continue to pump unrestricted finance into the sector, with banks providing US$213 billion for LNG expansion between 2021 and 2023. The #report assesses financial flows (project financing and corporate financing) to and investments (bonds and equity) in the 150 largest LNG developers: https://reclaimfinance.org/site/en/2024/12/05/frozen-gas-boiling-planet-how-the-support-of-banks-and-investors-to-lng-fuels-a-climate-disaster/ #LNG #oilAndGas #energy #GHG #exports #emissions #carbon #methane #assets #capacity #commodities #ReclaimFinance

We should not be burning methane gas in our homes (or anywhere). New research report: Scientists gave asthma patients free electric stoves to replace their gas stoves, then checked to see if symptoms improved. Not only did symptoms improve but ditching gas was *better than medicine.* https://www.climatecoloredgoggles.com/p/electric-stoves-asthma #LNG #oilAndGas #GHG #emissions #methane #asthma #health #methaneGas #naturalGas #electricity #stoves

While you're being told to recycle more & use paper straws to save the #planet the world’s richest 0.01% are wrecking it not only through their lavish lifestyles but also their ownership-based #emissions. A new Greenpeace Africa report found that the world’s richest 0.01% are associated with about US$992 billion worth of climate damage in 2022 alone through ownership-based emissions. These are emissions linked to the companies, investments and assets wealthy people own and profit from.

An EU plan to tie free pollution permits to investments in decarbonization could enhance corporate accountability, investors said, despite concerns that a broad overhaul may weaken incentives to cut emissions. https://www.japantimes.co.jp/environment/2026/07/22/investors-pollution-plan-eu-carbon/?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=mastodon #environment #emissions #carbon #pollution #eu #environment #investments
