Data centres pose a significant risk to life on Earth. They should be curbed. Cutesie fines on tech monopolies are a performative game and should be seen as such . They need to be broken up. They should never have been allowed to form in the first place. #climateemergency #ai #DigitalAutonomy

Der Claim des letzteren ist "Die Plattform für Digitale Souveränität [/] openCode bringt Open Source in die deutsche Verwaltung. " Es läuft auf ersterem GitLab. GitLab ist solide Software, allerdings ein klassisches, börsengelistetes, erfolgreiches US OpenCore FOSS Unternehmen. Somit unter anderem erheblichem ROI Druck ausgesetzt. Somit ist der "digitale Souveränität" Claim hier mindestens interessant. Der offensichtlichst mögliche Ansatz hier wäre ja nun die Auswahl und finanzielle Unterstützung von Forgejo. Das Projekt dürfte zu sehr wesentlichen Anteilen Deutsch oder Europäisch sein, ebenfalls ist die größte allgemein bekannte Instanz mit @Codeberg@social.anoxinon.de in Deutschland beheimatet. Codeberg hat mittlerweile Strahlkraft weit über Deutschland hinaus entwickelt und wird mittlerweile international verwendet. Es besteht der Eindruck dass sowohl Codeberg als auch Forgejo im wesentlichen ohne Gewinnerzielungsabsicht operieren. Fragen an den Betreiber ZentisWZendis warum man sich hier nicht für Forgejo entschieden hat führten zu keinen wirklich überzeugenden Argumenten. #forgejo #codeberg #digitalsovereignty #digitalautonomy #zendis #git #gitlab #opencore #opensource #foss

@ocratato@discuss.systems The equipment for making chips is now so expensive that very few can afford to buy it. That is why I suggested a nation-state do it. I'd buy RAM and SSDs from Chips Canada, if it were to exist. (Or from an analogous company created by any trading partner in the blocs #Canada is joining or starting in response to the US trade war.) So would many individuals and small businesses here. So would our schools and hospitals, municipalities and utilities. So would the #CAF (our military) and the #RCMP (our federal police), as would our #nationalSecurity intelligence services. And so would heavy industry in sectors critical to the Canadian economy, for whom I know first-hand the current prices of RAM and SSDs directly contributing to suspension of operation at some plants and to minimizing of staffing at others. I had one recent contract, at a major producer of a leading Canadian export, which included my salvaging DDR3 from PCs planned for disposal. Heute war ein unbefriedigender #diday, denn alles, was an #digitalAutonomy zu tun gewesen wäre, hat mit #smartphone zu tun. Und da komme ich mit meinem Wissen nicht aus - es sei denn, ich würde für viel Geld neue Handys & Tablets mit vorinstallierter freier Software einkaufen? Ich habe Linux seit 2011, ich bin nicht technisch unwissend, aber ich arbeite im sozialen & künstlerischen Bereich & bin ganz ehrlich einfach überfordert, freie Betriebssysteme auf Smartphones & Tablets zu installieren. 1

Impressed by how well DeltaChat works nowadays! https://delta.chat/en/ I could easily create an account without sharing any details. Connect with a friend's Android based phone & an iPhone. We could videocall & send small apps like a game or a shared list. Apparently I can host my own chat relay & don't need to use someone else's infrastructure, but I haven't tested that yet. A mobile phone with open hardware and a linux based open source operating system but locked down to run only 3 services:

  1. Phone
  2. Identity attestation (passwords, passkey, TOTP all backed by an open hardware Secure Enclave)
  3. Browser

Camera optional. Minimal (encrypted) local storage, but that’s it.

Dutch civil servant fired because he spoke up against the takeover of #Solvinity that provides the #DigiD service. DigiD is the central system that is used in the #Netherlands to log in into official government and related services. Solvinity, the company hosting DigiD will probably be taken over by Kyndryl, a US company.
