:ai: Once again, @pluralistic@mamot.fr nails it ... If: digital sovereignty + AI = digital sovereignty - AI Then: AI = 0 https://pluralistic.net/2026/06/18/their-trillions-our-billions #DigitalSovereignty #AI #ArtificialIntelligence #UN #UnitedNations

US-Exportkontrollen, TLS und was alle vergessen.

Schreibt mich dafür gerne an: https://www.zeit.de/2025/51/douglas-rushkoff-survival-of-the-richest-tech-milliardaere-fluchtfantasien?freebie=e9fbd375 #hoffnung #politik #politics #Selbstwirksamkeit #gemeinschaft #zivilgesellschaft #internet #fediverse #digital #digitalsovereignty

When you base your #DigitalSovereignty on Open Source and Open Standards and you make sure that you (and/or your outsourcing partners) work with an „upstream first“ philosophy of sharing code back instead of forking stuff, you are eligible to call it #DigitalSolidarity instead and I like you a lot more. The municipality of #Groningen in The Netherlands is investigating a switch from Microsoft to Linux 🇳🇱🔥 " It is unknown which Linux operating system the municipality will use. This is part of measures to become less dependent on big tech." https://tweakers.net/nieuws/249114/gemeente-groningen-onderzoekt-overstap-van-windows-naar-linux.html #digitalsovereignty #TheNetherlands #opensource #bigtech #eupolicy

This morning I got to meet with Dr. @maemst@swiss.social and @lsmith@mastodon.green from the Bern Uni of Applied Sciences, and tomorrow with members of the Swiss government, to discuss Swiss/Dutch collaboration in #opensource and #digitalsovereignty initiatives. 🇨🇭🇳🇱 We're all trying to solve the same challenges. E.g., it's been really interesting to discuss a particular #codeplatform problem, that the Swiss may have found a complementary solution to: https://codeberg.org/forgejo/discussions/issues/477 This is what EU collaboration looks like 🇪🇺

Public money should be spent on public code that benefits us all. We call for Digital Sovereignty with open source tech, so we can switch providers without changing systems. End the #BigTechRipOff that keeps us dependent and out of pocket. Tell your MP to back an amendment to the Cybersecurity Bill by 16 June ➡️ https://action.openrightsgroup.org/tell-your-mp-end-big-tech-rip/?mtm_campaign=big-tech-rip-off&mtm_source=mastodon #digitalsovereignty #techsovereignty #bigtech #opensource #palantir #ukpolitics #ukpol

"There is a bit of schadenfreude on Twitter right now about Anthropic being hit by the US government’s export control directive to suspend access to Fable and Mythos. Anthropic and their leadership have spent a lot of time and effort describing its own technology as dangerous and in need of strict controls and regulation. Now that the US government appears to have taken that framing seriously and told them to turn it off for foreign nationals I can see why people are making fun of that situation. I understand the reaction, but I urge you to not entertain it for too long because it is a giant distraction. The important part is not that Anthropic’s safety language came back to bite them but the line the US government is drawing: this technology is apparently so powerful that only Americans should have it. We are on a clear path towards a world of division. One should think that if a model is too dangerous for everyone, then it is too dangerous for Americans too. Instead the US is treating these models like weapons that need to be controlled. It is not just about capabilities, it is about racism and nationalism. If you have the wrong passport, you are not to be trusted. This is a very different thing from safety, and Europeans should pay close attention to it." https://lucumr.pocoo.org/2026/6/13/americans-only/ #USA #Protectionism #Trump #MAGA #DigitalSovereignty #AI #Anthropic #Claude #ClaudeFable #ClaudeMythos

The UK's digital infrastructure is a strategic asset. But being dependent on US tech firms is a critical weakness. Our systems can be hit with sanctions, our economy is damaged and our tech policy curbed. Tell your MP we need Digital Sovereignty by 16 June ➡️ https://action.openrightsgroup.org/tell-your-mp-end-big-tech-rip/?mtm_campaign=big-tech-rip-off&mtm_source=mastodon #BigTechRipOff #digitalsovereignty #techsovereignty #bigtech #opensource #palantir #ukpolitics #ukpol

This is my current pragmatic privacy stack. I am happy with where it sits. It is mostly sovereign, some necessary compromises. Note: There is no right answer here. I am not telling you what to do. I am only sharing my experience after spending the last couple of years taking back my sovereignty. Wins: Linux was my gateway drug. CachyOS + kernel tweaks keep me in control without losing convenience. Self hosting on two homelab nodes lets me experiment freely. Proton replaced 90% of my Google dependency (Mail, Drive, Pass, Calendar), making deGoogling actually feasible. Home Assistant and Jellyfin are zero enshittification, no subs, no PLEX bloat. Unhappy Middle: Search is still a headache. DuckDuckGo feels like a fallback, not a solution. Metager is better but paying for search rubs me wrong. Web registration is sloppy right now (Porkbun/Cloudflare mix) need to audit that. DNS is mostly Quad9 out of laziness. Pi-hole or AdGuard is next on the list. And yes, Discord is back. Trying to get friends onto Matrix or Signal feels like herding cats, some bridges are too far burned to cross. Hard Acceptances: I’m not running GrapheneOS (bootloader locked on my Pixel 10 Pro XL). I accept Steam, Obsidian, and Discord as permanent fixtures. And honestly, Google Maps and YouTube aren't going anywhere either. The convenience to privacy ratio just doesn't tip the scale there. You trade purity for functionality sometimes, and that’s okay. Next: Fixing DNS, auditing registrars, and maybe finally ripping those blurays into Jellyfin properly. Privacy isn’t binary. It’s a spectrum of control we fight for each day. #Privacy #DeGoogle #DigitalSovereignty #CachyOS #HomeLab #FOSS #Proton #Jellyfin #Mastodon

The UK's love affair with Big Tech is toxic ☢️ A small bunch of US firms have captured our critical systems from the NHS to defence. We need a #DigitalSovereignty strategy to secure independence and economic growth with open source. ORG's @jim@social.openrightsgroup.org explains ➡️ https://peertube.openrightsgroup.org/w/8x4qi2BaEpGDLDvfwf8wj6 Write to your MP by 16 June to support the amendment to the #CybersecurityBill ➡️ https://action.openrightsgroup.org/tell-your-mp-end-big-tech-rip/?mtm_campaign=big-tech-rip-off&mtm_source=mastodon #BigTechRipOff #techsovereignty #bigtech #opensource #palantir #ukpolitics #ukpol

I run https://blog.hofstede.it aiming for maximum digital sovereignty! DNS: My own authoritative servers (PowerDNS) with DNSSEC signing. HW: Own physical server in a German colocation Net: My own Autonomous System (AS201379) for full BGP control Stack: 100% FOSS (FreeBSD, Caddy, Forgejo, Pelican) Web: <600kb total size, 0 trackers, 0 external deps. All assets hosted locally. I don't even log IPs. Data I don't store is data I can't accidentally leak. Keeping data is a burden! #SelfHosting #FreeBSD #BGP #FOSS #DigitalSovereignty

How to fix Ripped Off Britain? 🔴 BOOT: Palantir and Big Tech grifters. 🟢 TOOT: Digital Sovereignty and open source. In one of the #TNC26 talks (part of the Rebooting the Old Reliables session) one of the speakers mentioned an article about "Rewilding the internet". It's been around for a few years but is a fascinating and inspiring read… https://www.noemamag.com/we-need-to-rewild-the-internet/ #rewilding #internetdiversity #digitalsovereignty #digitaldiversitity

Folks, can you share this post more widely? I haven't heard anything about digital sovereignty for social networks in Korea or Japan, or in Oceania, both of which are hotspots of the Fediverse. I want to know about and connect with people doing this work. #DigitalSovereignty #DigitalAutonomy

Palantir crawls further under the skin of the UK State ⚠️ Yet another contract has been awarded to the spytech firm with links to ICE and war crimes in Gaza. This time covering… firearms, explosives and poison 💀 We need to move away from controversial US firms and back Digital Sovereignty. https://www.theregister.com/databases/2026/06/04/palantir-wins-9m-contract-to-run-uk-firearms-licensing-cia-backed-biz-to-hold-gun-bomb-and-poison-records/5251132 #palantir #digitalsovereignty #ukpolitics
