I have like zero respect left for developers who use LLMs to write or maintain their software. I don't even care for the reasons why they use this unethical piece of... technology. Technology trained on data they don't own. Technology owned and shaped by fascists. Technology that sends its crawlers around the globe to suck every bit they can find to dump their models into big f***ing corp data centers. Data centers that are polluting the air with their big ass gas plants. But hey! "Leave ethics aside". "That's how software development works today!". I'm so sick of this and about everyone supporting this industry. If you feel targeted, you are welcome. I have zero respect for you or your software garbage. (sigh) If you were wondering like me if the #XFCE folks use LLM code generators or not.... well the dude working on their wayland compositor just removed all doubt; by posting their justification on using LLM code to their blog. I would recommend folks not pile on the guy in his comments section or anything. Just take note, and choose software or not according to your internal policy on such things. #FlOSS #AntiAI

Yesterday, during a social ride, I talked with a guy who was working in Borland back in the days (~30 years ago). He mentioned that Open Source killed a lot of software business at that time. Today I talked about GNU Guix at MashhadLUG, our local Linux User Group. I’ve published the presentation files on GitHub. (Sadly, GitLab is unavailable for my country due to sanctions, and Codeberg is blocked by the Iranian government, otherwise I would have preferred to host them there.) I’m a big fan of Emacs and Org mode. This presentation was written in Org and delivered using org-tree-slide. After @oemb1905@gnulinux.social traveled up to Brown Rice Data Center and installed it and passed it through to the virtualized PT, Lord @sen@gnulinux.social took care of customizing the JSON for the ffmpeg logic and did some tinkering under the hood so that PT would be efficient in its choices. Efficient hardware AV1 transcoding is now live. 💡 We still have slots open for registration and the quoted post below shows our starting quotas and limits. More is available upon request or for justified use-cases. As a reminder, the GNUTube requires members to be posting either floss content and/or for supporting floss organizations. 🤖 Propunere în comunitatea Debian: Proiectul dezbate interzicerea contribuțiilor generate sau asistate de Inteligență Artificială!Dezvoltatorii Debian au inițiat o propunere oficială de Rezoluție Generală (General Resolution) intitulată „Ban LLM contributions from Debian”, care solicită interzicerea explicită a contribuțiilor realizate direct cu ajutorul modelelor de limbaj (LLM) și ale instrumentelor AI generative. ✨ Principalele detalii ale propunerii: 🚫 Ce ar urma să fie interzis:• Utilizarea AI pentru pachetele sursă Debian, activitatea de packaging, software-ul dezvoltat de Debian, resursele web oficiale, documentație, traduceri și comunicările din cadrul proiectului. ✅ Ce RĂMÂNE permis (excepții):• Software-ul creat de terți (upstream) care folosește AI, pachetele software legate de domeniul inteligenței artificiale și patch-urile de securitate venite direct din sursele originale. ⚠️ Motivele din spatele propunerii:• Drepturi de autor incerte: Statutul legal al codului generat de AI rămâne neclar și riscant din punct de vedere al licențierii.• Calitate și securitate: Riscul de a introduce erori, halucinații de cod sau probleme de securitate dificil de detectat.• Supraîncărcarea menținătorilor: Verificarea contribuțiilor de slabă calitate generate automat crește riscul de epuizare (burnout) în rândul voluntarilor.• Probleme etice: Colectarea neautorizată de date pentru antrenarea modelelor și impactul asupra mediului.Având în vedere rolul central pe care Debian îl are în ecosistemul Linux, decizia finală va avea un ecou puternic în întreaga comunitate open-source! 🚀#Debian #Linux #OpenSource #AI #LLM #SoftwareDevelopment #SysAdmin #TechNews #FLOSS #CyberSecurity
