#Datenschutz #Sicherheit

I guess since the whole "Flatpak creating a dependency on systemd" bullshit has surfaced this week there has been some other conversations about systemd going on throughout the Fediverse. I've seen some oblique references to Debian making an effort to make OpenRC more viable as an alternate init system. That's about all I've gathered on my hit-n-run timeline surfing the last several days. Not sure if this is an official Debian project or just someone's wish list. Anyone have the skinny? Links to actual discussions? #Linux #Debian #systemd #OpenRC #Flatpak

The #AppImage "packaging" approach being embraced by many projects is just another poor approach. It does not really solve what it is expected to should solve: Dependency issues. More and more .AppImage downloads now produce results like these: /tmp/.mount_tumpa-Z5HMuu/usr/python/bin/python3: error while loading shared libraries: libcrypt.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory /tmp/.mount_activiXYBUA0/aw-qt: symbol lookup error: /tmp/.mount_activiXYBUA0/libQt6WaylandClient.so.6: undefined symbol: wl_proxy_marshal_flags I dunno if it is due to incorrect packaging or a design artefact with AppImage. I believe #flatpak is the only true sane way to go. At least if you don't want to frustrate users. #linux #foss #opensource #packaging

@Nymnympseudonymm@mstdn.science I've got #LibreWolf installed as a #Flatpak. Was going to reply that, unfortunately, LibreWolf wouldn't work with my #YubiKeys …then it occurred to me: #Flatseal > Applications > LibreWolf > Device > All devices > ON LIbreWolf Flatpak now does #FIDO2 on #Linux!
