Self-signed certificates is so easy to install on Android, a lot of developers refuse to even allow for manually verifying self-signed certificates. Just install the cert!

It's so easy that developers don't even bother to tell people how to do it and all I find when I search the web is how difficult it it, particularly after google tighten in on the possibility.

Security concerns, right. I get that. That's why I've used an unofficial, hacked #AntennaPod fork, outdated but supporting self-signed certificates.

It would probably be better if I hosted gPodder on somebody elses machine, maybe even in a different country so it's really hard to understand the intricasies of the law. But then I could at least use a third party certificate authority instead of everything being in-house. Literally.

Hosting on my own server at home, behind a closed VPN? Insecure.

Drugs are fun. AI is fun. Neither should be involved in important decision making processes. And used in moderation. For some people it's just best to stay away. In fact it was drugs that made AI's hallucinate in the first place. You know, let's just drop the whole drugs and AI future shall we?

The new "waffle menu" on #nextcloud is reportedly adding more clicks navigating the webui with the expressed repo reasoning "to look more like google and microsoft". Just another reason why I only use Nextcloud as a sync server and don't interact with the webui. Another reason why I've semi-gapped the server through VPN so I can hold back updates. If I can't use third party clients, I don't bother anymore. I decided on this after waiting for repeating tasks for years (the backend always supported it for third party clients...), and after someone sent in a working webui pull request it took months and community murmur before it actually was implemented. I'm actively looking for private groupware and RSS solutions and if I find something I think I'll be leaving Nextcloud for good after using it since Frank left owncloud.

The double-sided, high-density floppy disks are supposedly 1.44 MB. But in reality they're actually 1440 KiB, which makes 1.41 MiB or 1.47 MB according to some random math I found on the internet.
