Dear all, As you may know, when you register/pay to RENT a domain on the old internet, you are not sovereign. You are bound by force to rules/limitations to the TLD* on which you rent your domain name. When we bought fairtech.ngo, We did read https://pir.org/our-impact/ngo-ong-policy/ It seemed our objective match what is asked. We just received an email from our registrar (middle man) that himself receive an email from pir.org, owner of .ngo. They cordially let us know that our website do not comply with their rule and restriction. We write them, letting them know that FairTech.ngo is a crowdfunding for an upcoming NGO and it's ending the 1st October. If it succeed we will do register the ONG. Otherwise we will remove it. We will see in the following days if the domain is shut/censored (so nobody anymore qill be able to see the website) Wait and see.. SIDE NOTES We have to be clear, we were expecting that kind of maneuver. it's why FairTech.ngo try to exist what we could advise is to join asap the SimpleX group that is listed at the bottom of the page contact on the web page FairTech.ngo *https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TLD #censorship #dataprotection

And what reason did they give? And do you have a complete backup that you can upload elsewhere? As I mentioned the other day, there are free legal resources and help for independent media, but first explain more about what happened and why. #pressfreedom @freespeech #censorship (For those of you who don't know, Chu used to report LatAm breaches on DataBreaches.net. It's hard for me to imagine how he would get banned for the kind of reporting he does, but... let's find out. )

“Better safe than sorry” For release 0.5.0 of #Censor, a lot of work went into improving the security of PDF redaction. PDF documents are tricky, and irrevocably removing elements from them is even more. With this release, before saving a redacted document, garbage is now properly collected and documents are sanitized, which means that metadata, page thumbnails, etc. are removed. Also, vector graphics are now removed with a more strict option when they overlap with redaction rectangles. On top of that, I added redaction of PDF annotations. The user interface was refreshed: with undo and redo buttons in the toolbar and improved document saving experience. Drawing rectangles is now indicated by a crosshair cursor. “Zoom in, zoom out, redact your points!” #Censor v0.7.0 ships improved zooming with pinch-to-zoom gesture on touchpads and touchscreens and various security bug fixes. The upstream #PyMuPDF library has some issues treating these documents. Thus, I implemented manual transformation and drawing of the redaction rectangles, and verified the proper redaction with a specially created sample document, submitted to the collection by #pypdf: https://github.com/py-pdf/sample-files/pull/36 Additionally, point- or line-like elements are now properly redacted. Sanitization during post-processing keeps now entries in form fields (note: this changes previous behavior). “Annotation censoring everywhere” #Censor, the #PDF document #redaction tool for the #GNOME desktop, got a minor update to v0.7.1. This solves an issue with annotations that could not be redacted in some files. Thanks to Julian Smith from #Artifex for fixing it upstream. In case you do not use the Flatpak package, you may need to wait for your distribution maintainers to update PyMuPDF’s version. Hindi has been added to the languages you may now speak with Censor. #Censor, the #PDF document #redaction tool for the #GNOME desktop, was released in version v0.7.3. A bug was fixed that sometimes prevented files to be saved with the “Save” menu entry or associated keyboard shortcut Ctrl+S. Censor’s #Flatpak package comes with the latest version of the upstream library #PyMuPDF (1.28.0).

Three new languages have been added to Censor since the last announcement here: Basque, Swedish, and Ukrainian. Thanks to the translators! You may contribute to translations at https://translate.codeberg.org/engage/censor

“Banish the ghosts” #Censor, the #PDF document #redaction tool for the @gnome@floss.social desktop, was released in version 0.8.0: https://codeberg.org/censor/Censor/releases/tag/v0.8.0 This version comes with major improvements to secure redaction of invisible elements: first, point- or line-like elements on page borders, and second, elements located outside of pages, quasi in infinity. These “ghosts” are now redacted or you’ll get warned during post-redaction-validation if redaction wasn’t possible. “Preparing for the blackout” #Censor, the #PDF document #redaction tool, which allows you to draw black rectangles and permanently remove text and images below them, was released in version 0.9.0 (with a follow-up v0.9.1): https://codeberg.org/censor/Censor/releases/tag/v0.9.0 This version concentrates on draft and UI features. You can now save drafted redactions to the PDF document as PDF redaction annotations. Alternatively, you may export them to a JSON file, which may serve as a template for future redaction sessions. Americans! Updates on "Internet Safety" bills: -Hawley and Durbin are trying to sneak the unconstitutional STOP CSAM Act into the FY27 NDAA. Hawley allegedly managed to get it included it in the manager's amendment. This means it has a higher chance than previous attempts at being successful. -Still, there's procedural roadblocks that the bill has to clear to survive until the final passage. The manager's amendment is reserved for uncontroversial amendments. -The Senate Commerce Committee has scheduled a markup for KOSA and the SCREEN Act for Wednesday, August 5th. There are other bills, but they're far less problematic than KOSA and the SCREEN Act. -Senate KOSA's fate in the House is still quite uncertain. The same goes for the KIDS Act's fate in the Senate. -The SCREEN Act's approval among Democrats is unknown at the moment. "In a video my friend’s dog is laying on her back, her little paws in the air, while my friend rubs the dog’s chest. You can see most of the dog — who I’m not naming for very important privacy reasons — from her head to her belly. On closer inspection, you’ll notice the picture includes some dog nipples. Apple’s iMessage thought this video was so inappropriate that it flagged the video as potentially containing nudity and blurred it. When someone else received the video over iMessage, the app displayed the message “This may be sensitive.” They had to purposefully tap to reveal the video of a dog laying on her back being petted. This, obviously, is not the intended use case for iMessage’s nudity detection features. They are designed to let people protect themselves against receiving unwanted or unsolicited nude photos and videos.
