A fed appeals court on Tues said:⚡Trump admin🚨improperly terminated $Bs in funds to boost #CleanEnergy projects, handing a win to a coalition of nonprofits picked to run the Biden-era effort. Climate United Fund & other nonprofits won’t have access to their funds immed as the dec will be put on hold for sev days giving the #EPA time to ask #SCOTUS (⁉️) to step in. Judgement:⚡a loss for the Trump admin in one of its earliest efforts to dismantle Biden’s... #Climate #USPol https://www.wfla.com/news/national/ap-us-news/ap-divided-federal-appeals-court-says-trump-administration-was-wrong-to-terminate-climate-program/

The EPA spent hundreds of millions on lead remediation in Omaha, home of the nation’s largest residential Superfund site. New soil tests by The Flatwater Free Press and ProPublica show that years later, many yards still have harmful levels of lead. https://www.propublica.org/article/lead-contamination-epa-superfund-omaha-nebraska-analysis?utm_source=mastodon&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=mastodon-post #News #Omaha #Nebraska #Environment #Pollution #Children #Health #EPA

EPA says power for data centers can sidestep pollution laws | Reuters https://www.reuters.com/legal/litigation/epa-says-power-data-centers-can-sidestep-pollution-laws-2026-07-27/

The EPA said if the power plants are not supplying electricity to the grid then they would not be subject to the federal Clean Air Act's Acid Rain Program, which has been key to the dramatic reduction of smog and soot pollution from industrial facilities.

“The #Trump admin has killed proposed regulations for sewage sludge contaminated with #Pfas and spread on farmland as fertilizer. The practice that has sickened farmers, destroyed their livelihoods, killed livestock, polluted water supplies, and poisoned meat and food products sold to the public. The proposed regulations would largely have ended the use of sludge, also called #biosolids, in the nation’s food system. But the #EPA tossed out its scientific research.” https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2026/jul/20/trump-pfas-sewage-farm-fertilizer

The scale, which runs from 0 to 500, was designed by the #EPA & measures the density of five different #pollutants in the #air: ground-level #ozone, #particulates, #CarbonMonoxide, #NitrogenDioxide & #SulfurDioxide. Several spots in northeastern Minnesota, closest to the fires recorded had AQI readings well into the “hazardous” range on Wednesday. #wildfires #PublicHealth #AirQuality #pollution #air #ExtremeWeather #ClimateChange #ClimateCrisis

Written back when the #US #EPA cared about #CleanAir! Do-It-Yourself #AirCleaners: Making Cleaner Air More Accessible Published September 6, 2023 "Everyone should have the right to breathe clean air. However, during wildfires, the cost and availability of clean air technologies and reliable power sources can create challenges for people trying to protect their health from wildfire smoke. Recognizing these barriers, EPA and other health, environmental, and nonprofit organizations have provided instructions and materials for creating do-it-yourself (#DIY) air cleaners. DIY air cleaners are a more affordable and accessible alternative to commercial versions and can be constructed using a box fan and a high-efficiency home air filter. Securing the filter to the fan creates an effective, simple air cleaning system. "This DIY solution filters out smoke particles and improves indoor air quality, but its use has raised key questions about the devices’ safety and effectiveness. EPA scientists and their colleagues are conducting research to answer these questions. " 'This research was highly anticipated, particularly by EPA’s western regions, who have suffered from terrible wildfire smoke for years without the ability to recommend more affordable air filtering options to the public,' noted Meredith Bauer, Assistant Director of EPA Region 9’s Air and Radiation Division. 'It is important that we develop tools that allow everyone to protect themselves and their families when wildfire smoke is in the air.' CounterPunch.org | The Troubling Precedent of Federal Immunity for Corporate Pollution by Matt Sedlar AI generated summary, Read the full article for complete information. The article reports that the Department of Justice has asked a federal court to dismiss the NAACP’s lawsuit against Elon Musk’s xAI over its “Colossus” gas‑turbine plant, arguing that the turbines are essential for data centers that run the AI tool Grok—deemed critical to U.S. military operations in Iran—and that federal policy, national‑security interests, and the public‑interest outweigh local environmental concerns, even asserting that citizens lack standing to sue under the Clean Air Act. The case stems from complaints by residents of Memphis’s predominantly Black Boxtown neighborhood, who say the methane‑burning turbines emit nitrogen oxides, sulfur oxides and carbon monoxide linked to asthma, heart disease and cancer, with measured pollutant levels rising sharply after the plant’s installation. The DOJ’s stance mirrors a recent Supreme Court ruling in Plaquemines v. Chevron, which framed corporate environmental liabilities as federal matters when tied to government contracts, potentially granting corporations a special shield that weakens local regulatory power. The article warns that such precedents could erode community protections against corporate pollution unless state regulators or a more environmentally focused administration intervene. We need a global ban on PFAs for general use, but the industry has bought out the politicians. Until then stop buying their products, I've had my cast iron pans for over a decade and will never buy a non-stick teflon pan every again. https://www.seriouseats.com/best-cast-iron-skillet #pfas #foreverchemicals #epa #castiron #cooking

NEW: Trump Plans to Protect Methane-Leaking Stripper Wells. This Billionaire Donor Will Benefit. Oil tycoon Jeffery Hildebrand gave millions to Donald Trump’s 2024 election campaign.
