@bobbelcher@universeodon.com I bet #SCOTUS will "find" that the 14th amendment gives the President the power to do exactly this, by using their amazing powers of twisting words to mean exactly the opposite of what they actually mean.

#Trump admin urges #SCOTUS to allow #ExecutiveOrder targeting #mail-in #voting before #midterms The “emergency” appeal comes after an appeals #court upheld a ruling from a lower court blocking Trump’s order in nearly half the country ahead of November’s midterm #elections. But the #DOJ [aka Trump’s personal attys] asked SCOTUS to allow his proposed changes to move ahead anyway. #law #ElectionInterference #ActivistCourt #PartisanCourt #coup #TrumpCoup2 https://apnews.com/article/trump-mail-voting-appeal-executive-order-supreme-court-5482700c21f4945d6991dff24776b525

When Trump harms many good people in the United States he is also harming our economy: "Employers Fear Labor Shortage as Many Immigrants Lose Protected Status. A recent Supreme Court ruling cleared the way for the Trump administration to end a humanitarian program that has allowed about one million immigrants to work legally in the U.S.": https://www.nytimes.com/2026/07/26/us/trump-tps-labor-shortage.html #Trump #racism #WorstPresidentEver #labor #manufacturing #services copy: @renewedresistance@channel.org #politics #SCOTUS

The #RichardNixon presidency collapsed on #ThisDayInHistory in 1974, when #SCOTUS ruled unanimously that presidents are not above the law & that the subpoena of White House tapes was valid. The #WatergateScandal may, until recently, have been our sharpest test of executive power.

What does the #law mean to a #criminal? #Trump will impose #tariffs of around 10% on goods from >80 countries Friday, its latest effort to put in place an expansive protectionist policy that has been repeatedly challenged in #court. The tariffs will range from 10% to 12.5% & take effect at 12:01AM Friday, replacing a global 10% duty set to lapse at the same time. Trump issued that earlier tariff in February, after #SCOTUS struck down duties he imposed last year. https://www.nytimes.com/2026/07/23/business/economy/trump-tariffs.html?smid=nytcore-ios-share

The #Trump admin also pushed #Canada & #Mexico to adopt a prohibition on imports made by forced labor as part of prior #trade negotiations, & 10 other countries have committed to bans as part of trade deals negotiated over the past year, a senior admin official said. But critics say the #US, too, has shortfalls on its labor protections. And some say that the admin has seized on forced labor as merely the most convenient way to reimpose #tariffs struck down by #SCOTUS [ya think?]. #law #economy
