@dotpk@bsd.network Indeed it is. Android switched to cdc-ncm - network control mode since the Pixel 6. I'm still looking into the details but I want to get it working on #OpenBSD. #NetBSD has a driver since their newest 11 release, so thats probably a good think to relate to.
My installation screen hangs at this screen. ThinkPad E14 AMD what could be the reason for this ? No keys are working at this step. #netbsd should I disable drm before install ?

I am thinking about installing NetBSD on a Linux-only VPS provider, which I have done a lot already with FreeBSD, thanks to the mfsBSD project, which lets you install FreeBSD from a RAM disk.
Does something like that also exist for NetBSD as well? I would love it if I could just attach a custom ISO, but a lot of cheap VPS providers only give you a list of 5-6 Linux distros instead.

WELP, I attempted to install #NetBSD today, but I ran into some serious problems. Namely, after following the instructions on the official website to write the installer image to my USB thumbdrive (which keep changing what the block size should be!), the resulting drive fails to find the kernel and won't go further than the boot prompt. I'm trying some other dd flags and am about to try again, but if this doesn't work SOMEBODY is going to need to step up. Tagging @netbsd@mastodon.sdf.org because you're the most obvious person here to ask for help with installing NetBSD

I've got #FreeBSD running on a Thinkpad x260, #OpenBSD on a x200, and #NetBSD running on a random hand-me-down dell laptop (although S3 suspend and charge thresholds don't work on that particular bit of hardware).

Given there's been a lot of improvements to the Log File System in #NetBSD -current, here's how you can install a system to boot to an LFS root:
- Download -current, e.g. https://nycdn.netbsd.org/pub/NetBSD-daily/HEAD/latest/images/NetBSD-11.99.8-amd64-dvd.iso
- Boot the installer and follow the steps as usual
- When it shows you the final partition layout, use the arrow keys up to the partition displaying "FFSv2ea". Press return.
- Modify its "type" to "4.4LFS", scroll down and select "OK".
- Finish the installation and reboot. Pretty easy, right?
Btw #NetBSD what's plan if or when @E@floss.social start using AI/LLM for development? The future is forking all these projects into non LLMed versions? 😅

I think i'm in need of some positive tinkering. Might use october to try out #netbsd on the main thinkpad to see if it fits my overall needs there.
