Happy to share that #BoxyBSD remains up! Recently I got asked about my @BoxyBSD@mastodon.bsd.cafe project, which offers free VPS instances of vary #BSD based systems for learning and educational purposes and I'm happy to share that this projects remains available. Several things could finally be clarified to continue this service to make sure people can learn and practice on real #FreeBSD, #OpenBSD, #NetBSD systems to #RUNBSD. Also, BoxyBSD starts moving over to #Sylve on #bhyve. But not only that! We could also get some more new resources and locations to scale and this also brings up another new project for #free Linux #VPS instances at https://boxedtux.com (Fedi: @BoxedTux@mastodon.social) where people will be able to learn and practice on different #Linux based distributions (e.g., #Debian, #Ubuntu, #Rocky,...). BoxedTux utilizes #Proxmox clusters as a foundation. Hope you like this small update... Over & out! #freeVPS #VPS #VM #Hosting #education #learning #learningplatform #service #opensource #BoxedTux

We also offer pre-submission guidance/mentoring, see the CFP text. Wonder what BSD and the conferences are about? CMD+Tab changes windows CMD+~ changes same app windows CMD+m minimizes CMD+w closes single windows CMD+q closes apps Now #BSD WM looks and feels pretty close to macOS so switching from Mac to PC doesn’t hurt anymore. And everything works blazing fast! Faster than macOS on MacBook Pro M1 Pro. I’m impressed with results. #FreeBSD

As it's a slow Friday morning, I'm watching this video from Linux Renaissance on how easy it is to install #OpenBSD. And yes, I'm wearing my OpenBSD 7.6 T-shirt this Friday. :flan_cool::puffer::runbsdBg:https://watch.linuxrenaissance.com/w/vwUQ9YZQNjNWfQqLv3LBiD #BSD #RunBSD

RE: https://social.erambert.me/@macthemes/116503924192385157 The future we could have had. Now all we have are white and black themes. If you want to actually customize your computer, you have to use #Linux or #BSD. It's so much easier now, if you haven't tried in a while!

Masto Re-Introduction I'm a Linux Administrator and DevOps Engineer, foss & self-host enthusiast, linux gamer, BSD weirdo, and producer of electronic music. Also have an interest learning more about philosophy, left-wing anarchism/syndicalism/mutualism and decentralized systems (outside of crypto context). Looking to connect with anyone who regularly posts about or engages in those types of interests. #introduction #linux #linuxgaming #bsd #electronicmusic #anarchism #decentralization #foss

@pointlessone@status.pointless.one I have a hard time builing #AdaLang LSP on #OpenBSD. It makes me want to abandon the whole "switch to #BSD" idea and stick to the old boring #Debian Stable...

@leoschuldiner23@beige.party I'm with ya! I am a strong advocate for the used #thinkpad market - incredible #Linux (and #bsd?) machines for any budget $50 or bigger. I'm running a radio station server (backup) on a 2006 thinkpad. It just always works. Insane. Do people know about this?

💻 FreeBSD is serious about laptop support in 2026. The new FreeBSD Laptop Matrix tracks real hardware compatibility — ThinkPad, Framework, Dell XPS. ZFS native, Capsicum security, no telemetry. Here's how to get started and what to expect. Read: https://newsgroup.site/freebsd-laptop-compatibility-guide-2026/ #FreeBSD #BSD #Linux #OpenSource #Privacy

@Larvitz@burningboard.net Ah, thanks for the explanation 👍 I kind of figured that after writing the post. Some Linux distributions do similar things. Desktop Installer sounds excellent 👍 The current script is garbage. #BSD
