The @Codeberg@social.anoxinon.de FOSS Drama continues as predicted with @bizzfed@www.bizzfed.de 🍿 I predict this blog clause will be pleaded by the defendant: "Projects who have an active community that cares about and maintains the software". With my bet for the plaintiff to be pleading the "Projects written and maintained with heavy use of LLMs" clause. #bizzfed #codeberg #fossdrama #opensorce #llm #aiassisted #forgejo

Have a coworker who pronounces it “Forge Joe”. I wonder if Forge Joe is related to John Mastodon? #Forgejo #shitpost

Why is .config/ in git repositories not a thing? As an XDG_CONFIG equivalent to move .vscode, .zed, .forgejo away from the repository root, that would be pretty nice. #git #forgejo #gitea #vscode #zededitor

#Forgejo 16.0.2 and 15.0.6 were just released! They are security releases. We recommend that all installations are upgraded to the latest version as soon as possible. Check out the release notes and download it at https://forgejo.org/releases/ If you experience any issues with this release, please report to https://codeberg.org/forgejo/forgejo/issues #forgejorelease

#openSource community: If you move away from Big Tech because you want more freedom, transparency and arbitrary platform decisions… Can (not may) a platform like #Codeberg decide which kinds of projects are welcome? Or is that the 1st step onto a slippery slope where today’s “obvious” exclusions become tomorrow’s subjective ones? Where do you draw the line between responsible stewardship and becoming the gatekeeper you wanted to escape? 🤔 https://マリウス.com/i-regret-migrating-to-codeberg/ #Git #Forgejo #FOSS #LLM

A reminder to the world: You don't "need" Codeberg, you never did, you can run your own Codeberg, literally the same interface because it is the same software, it is called Forgejo. Your time, frustration and emotional distress is unnecessary and worth more than the 3 euros or less a month of a Hetzner VPN. No debate should exist in your mind for whatever a FREE service decides to do. #codeberg #unnecesaryDrama #forgejo #movingOn

I’ve just set up a private, self-hosted, Tailscale-protected Forgejo instance on my home Unraid server, and it works!! I’ve still got runners to set up but I’m really chuffed. #selfhosted #forgejo

RE: https://social.tchncs.de/@codefloe/116963861098218609 @mitsuhiko@hachyderm.io I agree to some extent; I think the blurry lines might cause endless discussions about edge cases later on, even though they're clearly defining a stance, and this may cause the net benefit of repelling AI users overall. That being said, I wouldn't say there is *no* alternatives. #Codeberg has gotten a bit of fame lately indeed, but there are other self-hosted #Forgejo instances which are happy to welcome AI users, e.g. #CodeFloe.

CodeFloe @codefloe@social.tchncs.de
Now that #codeberg has manifested their anti-AI view with a 70% in favor vote (https://codeberg.org/Codeberg/org/pulls/1253) we're happy to welcome (once again) all the people which have to/want to move their repositories off Codeberg but still want to stay on a Forgejo-based instance. Bonus: on top you'll get better uptime, faster site responses and faster CI runners - all for free :) tl;dr: after this ToU change, keeping AI-generated code on Codeberg would violate these and repositories will be in danger of deletion. #codeberg #codefloe #giveUpGitHub

@Codeberg@social.anoxinon.de I did look at some of the initiators/sponsors of the original proposal and did find one of apparent more important maintainers of @forgejo@floss.social and formerly Gitea until it turned "commercial". I wonder if this will lead to yet another fork of what started out as Gogs some probably 10 years ago now. Vibegeo? Vibeforge? Vibedistrict? (Thanks the original author of Gogs back when btw. I was already pretty amazing back when!) Certainly I will refrain from trying to propose (with PRs) a set of extensions to the issue system as said extensions and their raison d'etre have the evil taint of the LLM and hence certainly wouldn't be accepted. 🤷 #gogs #gitea #forgejo

RE: https://social.tchncs.de/@codefloe/116963861098218609 Although I appreciate what Codeberg does, I also recommend CodeFloe. I've been using it for several months now and it has works flawlessly! It's particularly suited for your non-Open Source software and they don't have an Anti-AI clause. Bonus for better uptime in my experience. #hosting #forgejo #git #codefloe

@michael@westergaard.social For the #ActivityPub and #ForgeFed implementation the #Forgejo contrib organization on #Codeberg has a separate repository and a roadmap they keep up-to-date. See: https://codeberg.org/forgejo-contrib/federation/src/branch/main/FederationRoadmap.md

With thanks to @AlienJay@burningboard.net for the recommendation, I have spent some time this evening setting up https://dockhand.pro/ It may take some time to see if it handles automatic updates of containers for me (and #Forgejo is a bit fiddly with that), but optimistic to see if it solves a problem for me.
