Neuer Artikel im Blog. „Gibt's für podman eigentlich auch was Grafisches?" Ja, gibt es. Nur läuft die GUI da, wo der server gar nicht ist. podman desktop sitzt auf dem Notebook, die container hängen per SSH am server. Es zeigt übrigens auch docker-container an – docker desktop umgekehrt keine podman-engine. Die Kompatibilität ist eine Einbahnstraße. Docker Services erreichen mittels Traefik Wem Traefik zu kompliziert ist, findet mit Caddy und Caddyfile eine einfachere Lösung, um Docker-Images unter einer Domain zu binden. Curly shells and rabbit holes. I treated myself to a new keyboard. One of my requirements for a keyboard is that it is QMK (or any other FOSS firmware) compatible. Since I am currently spending most of my private computer time on macOS, I wanted to be able to build the firmware and flash it from there. One of the first steps of the QMK setup procedure is to curl | sh a command from the docs to install the QMK command line tool. Shell-curling always feels icky to me for various reasons, and so I looked for alternatives. Here's my setup (using homebrew, which is also installed by bash-curling ;) Install container: brew install containerInstall dfu-util: brew install dfu-utilUse the docker build script with container: SKIP_FLASHING_SUPPORT=1 RUNTIME=container ./util/docker_build.sh your/keyboard:your_layoutFlash using dfu-util: dfu-util -a 0 -w -d 0483:DF11 -s 0x08000000:leave -D /path/to/your/bin It works and does not clutter up my system. #macOS #container #qmk #curlbash #homebrew

Heute das erste Mal #Container gespielt. Definitiv ein Spiel, das man einmal gespielt haben muss, bevor man die zugrunde liegende Economy versteht und sich die Leute nicht selbst rausnehmen. Leider waren in unserer Partie 2 von 4 klar aus dem Rennen. Wäre aber auf eine zweite Partie gespannt. Dann definitiv ohne off-shore bank und evtl mit der Erweiterung. Rein emotional hat es mich seltsamerweise weniger als meine Mitspieler gepackt. Noch ein paar Worte zum Preis: 🧵1/2 #brettspiele

Alright, crash course to #mastodon hosting basics. It's been long in my mind to try #MastodonBirdUI in #container. @michael@mstdn.thms.uk kindly added container build workflow to get fresh images every time @rolle@mementomori.social makes a new release. Today I learned #traefik and made it load balance birdUI running on #podman. Lot of new things for me, but eventually it works. I'll drop the configs somewhere once I have the time if someone wants to try.
