Ist ja Irre! #kittyterminal liefert auch gleich ein dropdown #terminal mit, wie z.B. #guake oder #yakuake eins ist. "quick-access-terminal" ist das Stichwort bzw. der Befehl. Hierfür kann man auch eine extra config anlegen. #opensuse #linux #windowtiling

Heute gelernt: Ctrl+R im Terminal ist nicht nur ein nettes Feature, sondern reine Lebenszeit-Ersparnis. 🔍

Statt zum dritten Mal denselben kryptischen tar-Befehl aus dem Gedächtnis zu kramen, einfach rückwärts durch die History suchen. Tippst “tar”, findest deinen alten Befehl, Enter. Fertig.

Mein Hirn dankt es mir – und merkt sich jetzt wieder unwichtigere Dinge. 😄

Feierabend-Tipp: Mit ncdu findet ihr endlich raus, welcher Ordner heimlich eure halbe Festplatte frisst. Bei mir war’s mal wieder der Docker-Cache. 🫠

Einfach sudo ncdu / starten, durchnavigieren wie im Dateimanager – nur schneller und ohne Maus. Löschen direkt mit d.

Spart Platz UND das schlechte Gewissen, mal wieder aufgeräumt zu haben. 😌

What are some of your most useful or favorite terminal commands?

I’ve been setting up a new Proxmox server and messing around with VMs, and wanted to know what kind of useful commands I’m missing out on. Bonus points for a little explainer. Journalctl | grep -C 10 'foo' was useful for me when I needed to troubleshoot some fstab mount fuckery on boot. It pipes Journalctl (boot logs) into grep to find ‘foo’, and prints 10 lines before and after each instance of ‘foo’.
