Ich habe heute unerwarteterweise zwei Partien #brettspiele gespielt. Die erste Partie war #Villagers. Wir haben zwar zuerst die Regeln falsch gespielt, danach hat es sich als nettes Spiel für zwischendurch bewiesen. Partie 2 war #PaxRenaissance. Ich hasse es das Spiel zu erklären und selbst neu zu lernen, aber ich liebe das Spiel selbst. Solo viele Optionen, so viel Theme. Würde ich gerne viel öfter auf den Tisch bringen. Großartiger Tag 🤩

@lordsplodge@brettspiel.space @iain@ohai.social to be honest it didn't feel that way to me, but sometimes I feel my scope doesn't work correctly anymore while being ripped off left and right and buying mostly niche games lately. At least I thought it had great production value, art and gameplay. Great game!

I have a strange conundrum with the game #DarwinsJourney . Before our last game, I was heavily considering it to be sold. I always liked the gameplay when playing, but never was excited to get it to the table. When we played it this time, the first 15 minutes i though that it surely would land on the sale pile. But then that turned around because there definitely is a good game in there. Its also the favorite game of one of the members of my gaming group. What to do? #boardgames #brettspiele

Ich habe das Spiel (mit nicht eingerechneter Erweiterung) für ca 60€ bei #Kickstarter bestellt. Jetzt, zeitgleich zum Release, ist das Spiel im Einzelhandel für 30€+ Versand zu haben. Obwohl ich das Spiel sogar ganz ok bepreist fand, ist das einfach nur komplette Verarsche. Außer bei super exklusiven Sachen muss man einfach #Crowdfunding meiden. Ich hoffe ich kann mich zukünftig selbst an diese Lehre halten. 🧵2/2

Heute das erste Mal #Container gespielt. Definitiv ein Spiel, das man einmal gespielt haben muss, bevor man die zugrunde liegende Economy versteht und sich die Leute nicht selbst rausnehmen. Leider waren in unserer Partie 2 von 4 klar aus dem Rennen. Wäre aber auf eine zweite Partie gespannt. Dann definitiv ohne off-shore bank und evtl mit der Erweiterung. Rein emotional hat es mich seltsamerweise weniger als meine Mitspieler gepackt. Noch ein paar Worte zum Preis: 🧵1/2 #brettspiele

Heute meine zweite Runde #Maria gespielt. Und wieder hat sich mein Eindruck vom ersten Mal bestätigt: das ist ein unglaublich cleveres Design, das aber leider nicht mein Herz erobert. Jeder Zug ist spannend und jede Position fühlt sich unter Druck gesetzt an... Trotzdem löst es in mir nicht dieses unbedingt mehr davon haben wollen Gefühl aus. Schade und gut, ein Spiel weniger fürs Regal.

@msaari@mementomori.social What did turn you off Ireland? During my few online plays I also did not grow fond of it, mostly because I generally dislike too specific/limited tile sets and I didn't like the slow start in combination with company order. The rest of our group want to play it live, maybe that changes my opinion.

Played #18Hiawatha today for the first time offline, second time in total. The question for us as a group was whether it can deliver the 1817 system feeling in much less than the usual 10hour session. And it definitely does. Not sure if because of the shorter playtime things get amiss and how I like the always buy trains at face value rule, but we shorted, struggled with loans (35 per loan and 3 trains is tough 😅) and had fun. Would play again!

I liked #18Africa better even though I am still struggling to understand which levers can be pulled but I'd like to explore it more. On Saturday I convinced myself to play #18USA which is always so daunting given it's length but oh boy is it worth it. The best time. We now need to try the shorter #1817 variant #18Hiawatha with our local gaming group to see if it scratches the same itch. I also played #TheOldPrince1871 which is just super good as always. One week ago, we held our 2nd 3-day #18xx Franconia convention in a small town south of Würzburg, attended by 15 people (up from 8 last year). It was a splendid time even though I started to feel sick on the second day after a year of no illness at all. All kinds of 18XX were played, including 2 prototypes and I was able to fill a gap in my 18xx history with playing 1880. It didn't wow me, but it was nice to finally get my own impressions on the game.

@Illuminatus @18xx I think its going to be vastly different. #18Korea is unbalanced privates - the game, while Daihan is your run off the mill 1830 style game, at least according to my friends who have played it. I have zero interest in it for exactly that reason. According to some of our community who talked to the developer there should be a english kickstarter coming in Q1 2026, but that rumor also exists for quite some time. The korean version is absolutely playable though.

Played #18Korea again yesterday. It's just So. Much. Fun. The timing when the war happens is not to be underestimated. Also interesting how the influx of cash sometimes completely screws over the late-game. @Fearteiler@nrw.social halte ich für eine gewagte Unterstellung, wenn es schon viele Mechaniken und Regeln gibt, die nahelegen, dass der Entwickler sich einige Gedanken zu seinem Spiel gemacht hat. Und man hat ja Versteigerungen, nur eben der Firmen und nicht der Privates. Aber ich glaube, wenn man sich grundsätzlich an den Privates stört, ist das Spiel wirklich einfach nichts für einen. Die 18xx Welt ist ja groß genug.

@Fearteiler@nrw.social Aber gerade diesen Bogen, dass am Anfang gerne mal 4-500, dann nichts mehr und zu Schluss wieder um die 1k verdient wird, gibt es sonst nirgendwo. Schaffst du es in den Süden, wenn nicht, wann verkaufst du und triggerst den Korea Krieg, wie rettest du assets in eine andere Firma ( wg der notwendigen Verbindung bei Zug Verkauf Regel), das sind viele spannende Fragen im Vergleich zum x-ten 30 Klon. Aber das ist ja das schöne, es gibt so viel verschiedenes. To each his own. 3/3 #18xx

@Fearteiler@nrw.social Und wenn der Gegner etwas stärkeres hat, investiere da (was aber wegen incremental ihn stärker macht, andererseits dann ein für ihn ein incentiv ist, die company im zweiten Teil überleben zu lassen). Das ist ja auch wg der Möglichkeit, aus dem Markt über 60% zu kommen, interessant. Und die Frage, ob Nord oder Süd, stellt sich meiner Meinung nach nicht. Ohne Firma im Norden kannst du direkt aufgeben, weil da früh im Spiel so viel Geld verdient wird. 2/x #18xx

Lustigerweise habe ich auch #18Korea erst wieder vor ein paar Tagen gespielt, allerdings mit ganz anderem Ergebnis: Alle Spieler waren sehr angetan und ich froh, meine Kopie zu besitzen. Dass die privates unbalanced sind ist sicherlich richtig, aber auch einfach das, was das Spiel ausmacht. Drafte dir etwas zusammen und versuch es maximal zu abusen. #18xx 1/x

I played quite a bit in November, most of it was due to spending my last 3 days at #VPSCon . As usual I mostly played #18xx there. One was a prototype, #18Bavaria which I've now seen develop over some type and it's definitely in a playable state. Main feature is the intertwined back and forth between canals and trains at the time. Interesting! My highlight were a rediscovered #18Korea (silly fun with good decisions) and the new #CrossBronxExpressway @18xx@fedigroups.social #brettspiele #bgstats #boardgames

I played #CrossBronxExpressway today for the first time. It was some kind of side event at a Con where we mostly played #18xx but all 3 of us enjoyed it so much that it's now already set up for a replay tomorrow morning. Super slick gameplay with subtle ways to interact and incentivise each other and fantastic production. Love the layout and design of the extensive rules, play books and historical background. Looking forward to it and now need to play a real #COIN #boardgame #brettspiele

East Anglia again and again! Back at 1862 in all of its beauty. I struggle in the mid- to late-game when my new companies do too little because of too few trains or I didn't merge them properly. But also the early game has so many decision paths and basically everything you do and each pattern seems questionable. Starting two companies? Maybe do just one at a low price but high ownership and dump it? So much to think about, love it.
