@sebastian@muenchen.social Ich muss es wohl immer wieder (auch mit Volker Kauder) wiederholen: Die CDU ist KEINE „konservative“, sondern eine christdemokratische Partei! Das sind geistesgeschichtlich völlig unterschiedliche Parteifamilien mit auch unterschiedlichen Dachverbänden. Dass große Teile der Union diesen Unterschied selbst nicht mehr kennen und merken, zeigt, wie plump auch Leute aus Politik und Medien Begrifflichkeiten aus der angelsächsischen Welt nach Deutschland übernommen haben. Auch wir auf Mastodon sollten diesen Schwachsinn nicht kopieren. Ich trat nie einer „konservativen“, sondern einer christlich-demokratischen Partei bei. Bei uns gab es immer Christlich-Soziale (CDA), Liberale, Konservative und Ökologische, die durch das C verbunden wurden. RE: https://digitalcourage.social/@BlumeEvolution/117059026095456979 Fällt eigentlich noch jemandem die bittere Ironie auf, dass angesichts der fossilen Erhitzung nun ausgerechnet christ- und sozialdemokratisch geführte Regierungen die LKW-Fahrverbote am Sonntag aufheben müssen? Eigentlich dienten diese dem Schutz der Fahrenden & ihrer Familien, dem Schutz der Mitwelt und dem Schutz der Mitmenschen. Aber angesichts vertrocknender Flüsse und also festsitzender Schiffe, Wassertransporten & Streß in den Kühlketten muss jetzt alles auf die Straße, was noch fährt. Und das Ganze unter einer leider noch immer von Fossilkonzernen dominierten Bundesregierung, die die post-fossile Energiewende abbremst, weil angeblich „zu teuer“. Das empört mich auch als Solarpunk & langjähriger Christdemokrat mit Bekenntnis zur ökologisch-sozialen Marktwirtschaft! Today in Labor History August 4, 1942: U.S. and Mexico began the Bracero Program to provide cheap Mexican labor to replace U.S. workers who were being sent to fight in World War II, and to replace the 500,000 Mexican workers who were deported during the Great Depression in order to mollify xenophobic demands for “white jobs.” The Bracero program also gave farm-owners an alternative to hiring Anglo farm workers who hadn’t been drafted, many of whom were affiliated with the radical IWW. The Bracero program promised decent and sanitary housing and a minimum wage, but these were generally ignored by employers. Additionally, the workers were often subjected to racist attacks. Unions aren't perfect. I've pointed out various flaws in the past. However, I am 100% in the corner of the flight attendants in their fight against WestJet. The correct number of unpaid work hours for any job is "zero hours". Zero. Not 35 hours / month. Not 15 hours / month. Not 5 hours / month. Zero hours / month. Period.
