Il Tempo: Volkswagen: Blume, tagli necessari, possibile eliminare fino a 50 mila posti lavoro
Roma, 13 lug.(Adnkronos/Dpa) - Il Ceo di Volkswagen, Oliver Blume, ha avvertito che potrebbero essere necessari fino a 50.000 tagli di posti di lavoro per restituire competitività al principale gruppo automobilistico europeo, in un clima di forte tensione con dipendenti e sindacati. In un'intervista interna visionata dall'agenzia Dpa, Blume ha quantificato per la prima volta l'entità dei potenziali esuberi, dopo che la scorsa settimana i media tedeschi avevano ipotizzato il taglio di oltre 100.000 posizioni.
Giovedì il sindacato IG Metall ha organizzato proteste su scala nazionale in concomitanza con la riunione del management per discutere le indiscrezioni sui piani di riduzione dei costi; nel fine settimana anche il consiglio di fabbrica ha espresso la propria netta contrarietà. Blume ha spiegato che la stima di 50.000 potenziali tagli deriva da un piano volto a ridurre i costi amministrativi e infrastrutturali di Volkswagen per preservarne la competitività, segnalando che i costi del gruppo superano ancora del 20% la media dei concorrenti. "Un calcolo teorico, ipotizzando l'assenza di variazioni nel costo del lavoro, comporterebbe circa 50.000 tagli di posti di lavoro a livello globale", ha dichiarato.
Il Ceo ha spiegato che è attualmente in corso una valutazione che interessa tutti i brand, le controllate e le aree geografiche per determinare quali interventi siano necessari e fattibili. Il costo del personale non dipende solo dal numero di dipendenti, ma anche dal costo del lavoro, ha aggiunto Blume. "Dobbiamo usare anche questa leva", ha concluso, indicando che l'entità esatta dei tagli all'occupazione non è stata ancora definita.

In an internal interview viewed by DPA agency, Blume for the first time quantified the extent of potential redundancies after German media had last week hypothesized a cut of over 100,000 positions.
On Thursday, the IG Metall union organized nationwide protests coinciding with the management meeting to discuss rumors about cost reduction plans; over the weekend, the works council also expressed its firm opposition. Blume explained that the estimate of 50,000 potential cuts stems from a plan to reduce Volkswagen's administrative and infrastructure costs in order to preserve its competitiveness, noting that the group’s costs still exceed the average of competitors by 20%. “A theoretical calculation, assuming no changes in labor costs, would result in approximately 50,000 job losses globally,” he stated.
The CEO explained that an assessment is currently underway affecting all brands, subsidiaries and geographic areas to determine what interventions are necessary and feasible. The cost of personnel does not depend only on the number of employees, but also on labor costs, Blume added. “We must also use this lever,” he concluded, indicating that the exact size of job cuts has not yet been defined.
