"AI" is a normal technology. It's an algorithm that does a handful of things quite well and a dumptruck of things very poorly. The "AI" industry is vile. Its goal is to convince your boss to "fire you and replace you with a chatbot that can't do your job" (@pluralistic@mamot.fr), and it will happily destroy the economy and egg on environmental destruction to do it. #AI #LLM #capitalism #labour #labor

I’m not sure that being labelled a future benefit claimant at primary school is the great motivating force that Milburn and #Labour think it is. We abolished the 11+ in the UK because we didn’t want children to be written off at that age and wanted equal opportunity of education. Primary school kids think of jobs in a similar way to how they think of fairytales…this will be just crushing and become a self fulfilling prophecy. Unions aren't perfect. I've pointed out various flaws in the past. However, I am 100% in the corner of the flight attendants in their fight against WestJet. The correct number of unpaid work hours for any job is "zero hours". Zero. Not 35 hours / month. Not 15 hours / month. Not 5 hours / month. Zero hours / month. Period. Wenn die es jetzt nicht schaffen, einige Dinge substantiell zu verändern, wird beim nächsten Mal #ReformUK übernehmen. Viele kämpfen gegen den sozialen Abstieg. Die Obdachlosigkeit grassiert. Für manche Gegenden ist das Wort shithole noch geschmeichelt. Man fühlt sich im öffentlichen Raum nicht besonders sicher. #Birmingham ist vielleicht noch krasser.

What I find chilling when the news report a rise in antisemitism is how the news reports it entirely uncritically. We know some of the figures are made up or exaggerated, we know Israel lobbyists are behind the reports, we know that this same tactic was used against #Corbyn when he was #Labour leader, we know the sudden supposed rise in AS completely coincides with the #genocide Israel is committing in #Gaza, we know that other minority groups are far more likely to receive racist attacks but that kind of racism doesn't receive so much media coverage ... We know this AS is being pushed for political reasons, to silence criticism of #Zionism and Israel and to further reduce our civil rights to protect Israel and the Western countries that are actively engaged in the Gaza genocide. We know all this but the folk in the legacy media just read out reports and tell the audience 'Any criticism for this means you too are and antisemite.'
