But this looks like Starmer 's trajectory. When he won the Lab leadership, the broad left gave him a chance. Step-by-step, he lost them. But voters gave him a chance, so he won in 2024. Then he crapped on the voters, and lost them.
Burnham is starting that 2nd phase: left alarmed, voters not yet horrified.
He still has time to repent. But another big betrayal will kill Labour

"The ban - which has led to more than 3,500 arrests, according to police and activists - puts the group on a government blacklist that also includes Palestinian militants Hamas and the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah.
Those detained have included senior citizens and Holocaust survivors.
Following the announcement, Defend our Juries, a legal rights group which has been vocal against the arrest and charging of those protesting the ban, said on X, "Time to stop the madness. Lift The Ban on Palestine Action."
Amnesty International welcomed the move, saying "we have long said that the banning of Palestine Action as a terrorist organisation was a grave misuse of sweeping counter-terrorism powers with serious consequences for human rights."

It is a redistribution challenge, and that challenge is different from what one would expect.
