Land and marine heatwaves, droughts, fires, floods, landslides, sea-level rise, super-charged typhoons, weather whiplash. Climate forcing is harmful, fossil energies cause it, we know who the biggest perpetrators are. The only 'pragmatic approach' to #OilAndGas, Mr #Burnham, is to shut it all down, arrest all the executives, and put them all on trial charged with conspiracy to commit murder. The #MetOffice is already predicting temperatures which will cause mass deaths in the #UK within thirty years. #NorthSeaOilAndGas #ClimateEmergency #ThereIsNoEconomyOnADeadPlanet https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2026/jul/30/burnham-promises-pragmatic-approach-to-north-sea-oil-and-gas

We should not be burning methane gas in our homes (or anywhere). New research report: Scientists gave asthma patients free electric stoves to replace their gas stoves, then checked to see if symptoms improved. Not only did symptoms improve but ditching gas was *better than medicine.* https://www.climatecoloredgoggles.com/p/electric-stoves-asthma #LNG #oilAndGas #GHG #emissions #methane #asthma #health #methaneGas #naturalGas #electricity #stoves

The whole article https://thenarwhal.ca/three-pipeline-announcements-2026/?utm_source=mastodon&utm_campaign=grassroots is extraordinary by the way, worth reading for people with any political ideology. The interviewee makes a lot of strong statements! #CDNPoli #Canada #Pipeline #news #FossilFuels #OilAndGas

RE: https://mstdn.ca/@thenarwhal/116892280647989537 Wow, @thenarwhal@mstdn.ca 's framing here is :chef_kiss: If [pipelines a]re such an economic boon, why are taxpayers footing the bill? Why indeed? Why are Canadians paying to subsidize exports? If the world market can't afford to pay for fossil fuels, why should we cover the cost? https://thenarwhal.ca/three-pipeline-announcements-2026/?utm_source=mastodon&utm_campaign=grassroots #CDNPoli #Canada #Politics #FossilFuels #OilAndGas #Pipeline

The US Department of Justice has renamed one of their divisions "Energy & Natural Resources". It lists blocking climate lawsuits against oil and gas majors as a priority. Robert Levy, a senior-level attorney at Exxon Mobil is retiring from the oil and gas company this month and joining the Justice Department’s Energy and Natural Resources Division. RE: https://mstdn.ca/@atomicker/116851537233896233 Excellent reporting from APTN. These two opening paragraphs: With Alberta’s promise to fully respect “Canada’s duty to consult with Indigenous Peoples,” as part of its promised July 1 submission on a new bitumen pipeline to the Major Projects Office, the province isn’t revealing which First Nations have been consulted. Information provided by Alberta’s Ministry of Indigenous Relations said it’s not providing a list of specific communities in the interest of “open and honest participation.” which is about as dryly sarcastic and critical as a purely factual report can be. 1/3 🧵 https://www.aptnnews.ca/national-news/imminent-alberta-pipeline-proposal-submission-has-b-c-environmentalists-first-nations-readying-for-battle/ #APTN #pipeline #FossilFuels #OilAndGas #Carney #CDNPoli #BCPoli #ABPoli #Canada

And what, from the economic perspective, is the point? the ocean-based B.C. economy at $21 billion annually with over 130,000 full-time jobs. so we're talking about spending billions of taxpayer dollars to endanger an $21 billion/year economy. 2/3 🧵 https://www.aptnnews.ca/national-news/imminent-alberta-pipeline-proposal-submission-has-b-c-environmentalists-first-nations-readying-for-battle/ #APTN #pipeline #FossilFuels #OilAndGas #Carney #CDNPoli #BCPoli #ABPoli #Canada

“Brownsville cannot keep selling us out to these toxic polluters.” Our top story: Residents are resisting this town's plans to make liquefied natural gas a key part of its future. But big donors are determined to silence their voices. https://www.texasobserver.org/brownsville-laguna-madre-special-interests-influence-records/ #Texas #energy #Politics #USpol #OilAndGas #GulfCoast
