A new rail station at #Deeside Parkway is set to strengthen links between North East #Wales and Liverpool, improving access to Deeside Industrial Estate, one of Europe’s largest employment sites, and easing pressure on local roads. During a visit to the proposed site, Transport Secretary Ken Skates said the project forms part of a £14bn rail investment backed by the #Welsh Government and #UK Government. The station will enhance connections to Liverpool’s jobs and education centres, the Port of #Liverpool and Liverpool John Lennon Airport, supporting cross-border commuting and inward #investment. Planned for completion as early as 2027, the scheme will use a modular approach to speed up delivery. Great Western #Railway (GWR) will introduce the UK’s first battery-only passenger train into service on Saturday 31 January, operating on the Greenford branch line. The Class 230 train follows a 22-month trial of fast-charge #technology and will replace a diesel unit, beginning with the 05:30 service from West Ealing. Last year, the train set a world record by travelling 200.5 miles on a single battery charge. GWR said the trial has shown battery trains can provide a reliable alternative where overhead electrification is not suitable. My 9-year solar report card is in! in the spring of 2017, I installed my solar energy system. The price tag was $42,000 (I got slightly used panels and saved a lot). It was a significant upfront investment...and worth every penny. Now that we are in 2026, I ran the numbers. I passed the break even point in 2022, and am roughly $21,000 in profit! The total value generated so far is over $63k. The next five years look even better. With utility rates rising astronomically, the system will generate another $36k or so. By 2030, the total profit should exceed $100k !! If you are still on the fence about whether the math works on a solar investment….well, it did, does and will accelerate as energy prices keep inflating.
