This is what Lord Walney wrote about #ExtinctionRebellion in his report Protection our Democracy from Coercion published May 21st 2024. His major concern was not their environmental activity and disruption but that, "it is fundamentally rooted in an anarchist society whose activism seeks to systematically undermine our faith on parliamentary democracy and the rule of law" You could rationally argue that Walney's presence in government is an indication of the politicisation of the protected act of protest
