I like what Peter Lewis is saying here. The anger that is the profitable engine of clickbait media has accelerated the success of the fascist right. Every time we participate in that, we fuel the process. An alternative? Take a breath before responding. Listen politely & say, ‘I’m not sure I understand you. Can you explain?’ When we’re overwhelmed by anger, outrage & exhaustion we can’t do this. Looking after ourselves is a necessary first step. Our anger and outrage are powerful tools when we’re not overwhelmed by them. They can support clarity, strategy & purposeful action. Disengaging from the monetised anger spiral takes practice. So both of my #exes just left for the airport ( one was visiting , the other still lives in my home ) and I am bereft but unable to feel #anger or #hatred. For a week i watched them be #happy and that’s why I’m #crying now , why I cried most nights to myself to sleep — they are happy — that is more valuable to me than any relationship. But I will lose my friends in both of them. #friendship is hard & losing it hurts more than anything Can someone tell me why ? #trans #queer #lgbtqiaplus
