I like what Peter Lewis is saying here. The anger that is the profitable engine of clickbait media has accelerated the success of the fascist right. Every time we participate in that, we fuel the process.
An alternative? Take a breath before responding. Listen politely & say, ‘I’m not sure I understand you. Can you explain?’
When we’re overwhelmed by anger, outrage & exhaustion we can’t do this. Looking after ourselves is a necessary first step. Our anger and outrage are powerful tools when we’re not overwhelmed by them. They can support clarity, strategy & purposeful action.
Disengaging from the monetised anger spiral takes practice. As does stepping back from overwhelm & sitting with our big feels. Practice. Baby steps.

I get so annoyed by how both MSM and clickbait indies like Meidas Touch, cover the protests, the general strike.
“Protests erupt…”
- Lead with a date & time on your breaking news you just released especially if after the fact. The “erupt” part makes it sound chaotic, violent, spontaneous, now…instead of calm, nonviolent, planned, yesterday.
They choose this framing bc they want the fire.
