RE: https://flipboard.com/@cbcnews/calgary-s2m5l3ffz/-/a-fV_JFadEQdWW8L8fbW2PGg%3Aa%3A107108217-%2F0 if i were Carney, i’d be putting money into ramping up production for water bombers & evac planes instead of another stupid #petromafia #pipeline. my most vivid memory of September 11, 2001 when i was on the rooftop watching the towers burn, was screaming, WERE ARE THE WATER BOMBERS?!?!? i will never get over the fact we are surrounded by water yet there were no water bombers to put out the infernos that day. 25 years later, i don't believe #nyc ever invested on a water bomber fleet.

Trump Wants to Build a New Pipeline Even Bigger Than Keystone XL The proposed tar sands pipeline from Canada to Oklahoma has been dubbed Keystone Light. After Spying on #StandingRock Protest, #TigerSwan Shopped Info to Oil Firms by Alleen Brown and Naveena Sadasivam 04/17/2023 ""More than 50,000 pages of documents were recently made public after the company behind the Dakota Access pipeline lost a court case to keep them secret." "Leaked documents and public records reveal a troubling fusion of private security, public law enforcement, and corporate money in the fight over the Dakota Access pipeline." "A new business model for breaking down environmental movements was being hatched in real time. On Labor Day weekend in 2016, private security dogs in North Dakota attacked #pipeline opponents led by members of the #StandingRockSioux Tribe as they approached earth-moving equipment. The tribal members considered the land sacred, and the heavy equipment was breaking ground to build the Dakota Access pipeline. With a major public relations crisis on its hands, the pipeline’s parent company, Energy Transfer, hired the firm TigerSwan to revamp its security strategy. "By October, TigerSwan — founded by James Reese, a retired commander of the elite special operations Army unit Delta Force — had established a military-style pipeline security strategy. "There was one nagging problem that threatened to unravel it all: Reese hadn’t acquired a security license from the North Dakota Private Investigation and Security Board. Although Reese claimed TigerSwan wasn’t conducting security services at all, the state regulator insisted that its operations were #unlawful without a license." https://theintercept.com/2023/04/13/standing-rock-tigerswan-protests/ #Activism #ClimateChange #EnvironmentalJustice #StandWithStandingRock #NoDAPL #Mercenaries #BigOil #ClimateJustice #ACAB

Dear #Marc_Carney #Doug_Ford #Danielle_Smith , Kindly take your #pipeline projects, AND SHOVE 'EM UP YOUR ASS! I'm sick and tired of breathing #smoke from forest fires every summer for the past 5 years. While every other country is investing in #renewable_energy and ditching fossil fuels, you dumb fucks are still subsidizing massive amounts of #taxpayet_money into fossil fuel to keep the industry alive. Soon, NOBODY will be using fossil fuels for energy. GET WITH THE PROGRAM! It's economical and environmental suicide to continue investing in fossil fuels.

The whole article https://thenarwhal.ca/three-pipeline-announcements-2026/?utm_source=mastodon&utm_campaign=grassroots is extraordinary by the way, worth reading for people with any political ideology. RE: https://mstdn.ca/@thenarwhal/116892280647989537 Wow, @thenarwhal@mstdn.ca 's framing here is :chef_kiss: If [pipelines a]re such an economic boon, why are taxpayers footing the bill? Why indeed? Why are Canadians paying to subsidize exports? If the world market can't afford to pay for fossil fuels, why should we cover the cost? https://thenarwhal.ca/three-pipeline-announcements-2026/?utm_source=mastodon&utm_campaign=grassroots #CDNPoli #Canada #Politics #FossilFuels #OilAndGas #Pipeline

RE: https://urbanists.social/@cargot_robbie/116851475405049500 It is soundling like #bitumen #pipeline to Roberts Bank 2. This likely means the pipeline will be in the Fraser River, the largest and most important #salmon river south of Alaska and north of the Columbia River. I so hope I am wrong… h/t @cargot_robbie@urbanists.social https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/livestory/energy-proposal-ab-bc-west-coast-july-2-live-updates-9.7251535 #BCPoli #CdnPoli #ABPoli

RE: https://mstdn.ca/@atomicker/116851537233896233 Excellent reporting from APTN. These two opening paragraphs: With Alberta’s promise to fully respect “Canada’s duty to consult with Indigenous Peoples,” as part of its promised July 1 submission on a new bitumen pipeline to the Major Projects Office, the province isn’t revealing which First Nations have been consulted. Information provided by Alberta’s Ministry of Indigenous Relations said it’s not providing a list of specific communities in the interest of “open and honest participation.” which is about as dryly sarcastic and critical as a purely factual report can be. 1/3 🧵 https://www.aptnnews.ca/national-news/imminent-alberta-pipeline-proposal-submission-has-b-c-environmentalists-first-nations-readying-for-battle/ #APTN #pipeline #FossilFuels #OilAndGas #Carney #CDNPoli #BCPoli #ABPoli #Canada

And what, from the economic perspective, is the point? the ocean-based B.C. economy at $21 billion annually with over 130,000 full-time jobs. so we're talking about spending billions of taxpayer dollars to endanger an $21 billion/year economy. 2/3 🧵 https://www.aptnnews.ca/national-news/imminent-alberta-pipeline-proposal-submission-has-b-c-environmentalists-first-nations-readying-for-battle/ #APTN #pipeline #FossilFuels #OilAndGas #Carney #CDNPoli #BCPoli #ABPoli #Canada

“It’s pretty hard to prove that a bitumen pipeline is going to break or leak because of the incredible safety record that Canada has had in the last 50 years." Oilsands have strong growth potential, but pipeline constraints loom: report Western Canadian oil production can grow by about one million barrels per day over the next seven years, driven mainly by expansions to existing steam-driven oilsands projects, says a new report from Enverus Intelligence Research. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/oilsands-canada-report-enverus-9.7171936?cmp=rss

The engineering reality is clear: pipelines move more energy with fewer spills and lower emissions than rail or truck. The opposition is driven by emotion, not data. #pipeline #EnergyFacts #Infrastructure
