#Europe is so obsessed with the discussion of the #Ceuta incident, not because it was a proper crisis which demanded a better political response than the one it got; rather, because it has stripped the #EU of its perennial mask of #hypocrisy, openly exposing all of its ugly, racist face. And they're aware of that. If this was mainland #Spain we were talking about, maybe the panic would've been... maybe not justified, but perhaps expectable to a degree. But the events took place in #Africa, where the spaniards happen to keep a colony in the midst of what should be the moroccans own land. And there the moroccans drowned, and were expelled, as if they were a plague roaming the house instead of legitimate owners of the land. That the entire world had seen this development on their TV screens, is what makes europeans uncomfortable. Not the handling of the crisis. But the fact that the mainstream was exposed, in front of the world, as being in no way different to the radical right.

"Satisfying but, ineffective" Describes the Canadian tendency to take what we consider to be the moral high road. Doesn't matter if it makes a real-world difference, we are doing the right thing - environmentalism. It doesn't matter that our main international trade partner attacks people on the high seas, threatens independent nations militarily, because we abhor the communist regime of China and restrict our trade accordingly. We don't want to appear anti-Semite so we ignore the national disgrace that is happening in Gaza, but we support Ukraine against Putin. #hypocrisy #canada

Physicians for Human Rights (PHRI) warned that Dr. Hossam Abu Safiya, director of Kamal Adwan Hospital, is facing an immediate risk to his life, following a visit by his lawyer Nasser Odeh at the underground interrogation section “Rakevet” inside Nitzan Prison. According to the lawyer’s testimony, Dr. Hossam appeared with his hands and feet shackled, suffering from recent injuries and bruises on his head, face, and neck. He was also experiencing difficulty breathing and speaking, and a severe state of exhaustion that caused him to nearly lose consciousness more than once. It was also confirmed that he is subjected to daily assaults, has lost consciousness several times, and has not received the necessary medical treatment. Dr. Hossam told his lawyer: “This is the last time you will see me… They brought me here to kill me. I do not see myself alive. This is the end.” That freaking Nazi loving Russian Navalni received the entire western world when he was captured by Putin, but no one, absolutely no one cares for Dr. Abu Safiya.
