Agi: Stretto di Hormuz, gli USA spingono per una risoluzione ONU contro pedaggi e mine iraniane
AGI - Interrompere l'imposizione di pedaggi nello Stretto e la messa in posa di mine lungo la via d'acqua. Sono alcune delle richieste incluse nella risoluzione ONU redatta da alcuni Paesi, tra cui gli Stati Uniti, e che verrà presentata al Consiglio di sicurezza.
"Ci sono cose molto semplici e dirette - ha spiegato l'ambasciatore USA Mike Waltz, incontrando i giornalisti - cessare gli attacchi alle navi commerciali; smettere di posare mine e rimuoverle da una via d'acqua internazionale; interrompere l'imposizione di pedaggi illegali nello Stretto di Hormuz e permettere alle Nazioni Unite di far passare aiuti umanitari, aiuti salvavita, attraverso quel corridoio internazionale. È davvero così semplice".
"Il problema - ha aggiunto - è che proprio questa settimana i media statali iraniani hanno annunciato che il regime ha lanciato quella che chiama la 'Persian Gulf Straits Authority', con cui intende pretendere che tutte le navi - commerciali, civili, internazionali - debbano registrarsi e pagare una tangente, un pedaggio, per utilizzare queste vie d'acqua internazionali".
Le implicazioni globali e la condanna
"E questo non riguarda soltanto questa regione: riguarda il mondo intero. Immaginate. Immaginate se ci fossero due Paesi, indipendentemente dal conflitto, indipendentemente da chi abbia iniziato cosa, immaginiamo, ipoteticamente, Spagna e Marocco in disputa tra loro, che decidano di gettare mine marine nello Stretto di Gibilterra e poi inizino a chiedere denaro alle navi per attraversarlo, in un cinico tentativo di ottenere leva sull'altra parte, imponendo una punizione collettiva al mondo intero per risolvere una disputa bilaterale. È inaccettabile - ha concluso - immorale e illegale secondo il diritto internazionale".
Hormuz Strait, the US is pushing for a UN resolution against Iranian tolls and mines.

“And this doesn’t just concern this region: it concerns the whole world. Imagine. Imagine if two countries, regardless of conflict, regardless of who started what, let’s hypothetically, Spain and Morocco in dispute with each other, decided to lay naval mines in the Strait of Gibraltar and then began to demand money from ships to cross it, in a cynical attempt to exert leverage on the other side, imposing collective punishment on the whole world to resolve a bilateral dispute. It is unacceptable – he concluded – immoral and illegal according to international law.”
