Someone mentioned in passing during a meeting in work today that "going passwordless is inevitable" and that using biometrics and facial scanning to sign in to accounts will be necessary. I work in the data protection office (the GDPR kind), so I'm begging please someone tell me this is not true.. 😩 #GDPR #DataProtection #biometrics #InfoSec

After three years of waiting and the help of my data protection authority, I finally achieved to get my 'tweepcred' from Twitter/X. It is a score linked to my account used in recommender systems. The UK Information Commissioner's Office has failed for too long. Enforcement action has fallen away under its 'public sector approach', where the regulator has heavily relied on non-enforceable reprimands. Without bringing law-breakers to account, our data rights are weakened. A slap on the wrist isn't a deterrent. The ICO even refused to investigate the Ministry of Defence for the most serious data breach in UK history. This was the final straw, leading to ORG calling for an inquiry with over 70 groups and experts. Data is your digital DNA 🧬 It reveals who you are. That’s why companies, government bodies and criminals want access to it. Whether it’s to stop profiteering, surveillance or fraud, data protection is the answer. But the UK data regulator isn't enforcing the law. #Utiq #DonneesPersonnelles #DataPrivacy #GDPR #Privacy #ViePrivee

The UK data watchdog is all bark, no bite. From failing to investigate complaints to forgoing regulatory action in favour of a slap on the wrist, the ICO isn't doing its job. It's time that the regulator is overhauled, because data protection laws only work if they're enforced. Happy Monday, got this gem from a UK org. The subject line was "GDPR request". I think it sums up this particular shitshow perfectly tbh. "we have processed your GDPR request and are now sending your deleted information to someone you do not know as confirmation we have deleted you" #gdpr #privacy

Ok, if you are particularly sensitive to the effects of irony, I suggest you take a seat before reading further. In what is perhaps the most perfect encapsulation of everything that this experiment has shown so far, last night, deleted-user.com received over 400 emails from the same organization. This was an EU based tech firm. The purpose of those emails? They were from the company's legal team, advising users of updated terms and conditions, and the first update was: "Data protection: we added language explaining how we handle personal data under the GDPR" #infosec #gdpr

@evawolfangel@chaos.social I wish they'd get serious #GDPR fines and be forced to reimburse everyone's costs and damages to change these and the harm caused by said #DataBreach. Cuz #LackOfAccountability & #LackOfConsequences embolden companies to not take #ITsec & #InfoSec serious…

@nixCraft@mastodon.social And to add insult to injury: One cannot get new #OnPremise #licensing for these products! I hope @eucomission@ec.europa.eu do ban this shite or ban #Atlassian across the #EU for violating #GDPR.Cuz only #accountability and #consequences can help!

GDPR, NIS2, and the EU AI Act overlap — but most organisations still manage them in silos. The IAPP's 2024 Digital Governance Report calls this the "analog" maturity level. It creates blind spots, duplication, and slow incident response. Our new article: why 2026 is the inflection point, and three practical steps toward integrated governance. https://readmodel.com/blog/article.php?slug=digital-governance-beyond-gdpr #DigitalGovernance #GDPR #NIS2 #readmodel #locaverdi
