Dear all, As you may know, when you register/pay to RENT a domain on the old internet, you are not sovereign. You are bound by force to rules/limitations to the TLD* on which you rent your domain name. When we bought fairtech.ngo, We did read https://pir.org/our-impact/ngo-ong-policy/ It seemed our objective match what is asked. We just received an email from our registrar (middle man) that himself receive an email from pir.org, owner of .ngo. They cordially let us know that our website do not comply with their rule and restriction. We write them, letting them know that FairTech.ngo is a crowdfunding for an upcoming NGO and it's ending the 1st October. If it succeed we will do register the ONG. Otherwise we will remove it. We will see in the following days if the domain is shut/censored (so nobody anymore qill be able to see the website) Wait and see.. SIDE NOTES We have to be clear, we were expecting that kind of maneuver. it's why FairTech.ngo try to exist what we could advise is to join asap the SimpleX group that is listed at the bottom of the page contact on the web page FairTech.ngo *https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TLD #censorship #dataprotection

For the 1st time, after 30y of using the internet, I created a folder in my email inbox specifically for emails informing me that my data has been leaked on some platform. There were so many in the last 2y that I’m now going to start collecting them. The worst part is when it’s data from gov platforms or companies where you can’t provide false information, airlines, hospitals etc. When are we going to start punishing the entities that collect our data and fail to secure it? #dataprotection

What is PII? The term comes from United States federal practice. The most cited formulation appears in NIST Special Publication 800-122, published April 2010, which frames PII as information that can be used to distinguish or trace an individual’s identity, either alone or combined with other linkable information. Does it land different within GDPR ? #GDPR #privacy #data #EU #EDPD #dataprotection https://privacyinsightsolutions.com/blog/what-is-pii-personal-data-gdpr

How many analytics and advertising companies can you actually share your website data with? I just ran across a cookie banner listing over 2,000 different partner companies, including over 1,000 advertising networks and 300 analytics companies. #dataprotection

“Claude is exposing a wealth of users’ chats and creations in Google search results, meaning anyone can dig through conversations or other material that people used Claude to make but may not have realized were publicly available for strangers to see. The exposed data includes an AI-powered therapy app that someone appears to have vibe-coded, notes on meetings, and a dashboard someone made apparently to analyze medical billing data. Exposed chats reportedly include private cryptocurrency wallet keys and personal information like peoples’ addresses Anthropic did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Like other chatbots, Claude lets people share their conversations with others by creating a publicly accessible link of the chat. People may do this to send the full text of a conversation to their friends or coworkers in a group chat, for example. But they may not realize Google is also surfacing these links in search results, making them available to essentially anyone.” https://www.404media.co/tons-of-peoples-claude-chats-and-creations-are-exposed-on-google #AI #GenerativeAI #Anthropic #Claude #DataProtection #Privacy #Google

Privacy is about so much more than just keeping information secret. Privacy is also about being asked for permission before others use technology to interfere with our lives. And about having a "no" accepted. As long as some believe that they can do anything their technologies are capable of, without respecting other people's boundaries, those technologies will always be a problem rather than a solution. -- #privacy #DataProtection #IrresponsibleTech

Please stop posting about how you're running a slop machine on local hardware under the privacy hashtag! The technology is built on massive privacy violations, no matter where it's running! If someone claims that running their slop machine locally is privacy-friendly, their notion of who has a right to privacy is obviously limited to themselves! -- #privacy #DataProtection #LLMs #SlopMachines #StopTheSlop #Slopposition #AI [sic!]

A friendly reminder: When you're building some tech for others to use, please start thinking about privacy before you write even one line of code! Believe me, treating privacy as one of the last boxes you have to check before your tech goes live almost always causes trouble. And it probably will make everyone involved - including you - miserable. Building privacy-respecting tech gets easier the sooner you start thinking about it. -- #privacy #DataProtection #GDPR #ResponsibleTech

Next time you hear someone complain about how "privacy brought nothing but those pesky cookie banners", please remind them that those banners wouldn't be necessary if companies weren't so eager to track everything we do online. Ah, and please tell them that many of those banners are intentionally designed to be as pesky as possible just to nudge everyone to click "accept". -- #privacy #DataProtection #PrivacyMyths

"The US’s excessive demands for travellers’ profiling and surveillance in order to stay in its Visa Waiver Programme are nothing less than blackmail. The EU accepting the terms of this power struggle is extremely worrying for the rights of Europeans and any third country nationals registered in European databases. The scheme implies systematic transfers of biometric data and other highly sensitive and subjective “indications of risk” based on European national databases to the US government, which has shown a blatant disregard for basic human rights in its harsh and inhumane treatment of migrants and visitors. In that regard, the draft text does nothing to protect from discrimination based on political opinions, which is worrying because the US is already cracking down political dissent, including its unlawful practice of screening travellers’ social media profiles. The sharing of individual risk assessments to supposedly protect “public security and public order” under the EBSP could further target opposition to the Trump administration, support to transgender people’s rights or protests against the genocide in Gaza expressed (publicly) on social media, with potentially significant impacts, including detention at the borders. Furthermore it is very difficult to know the terms of the negotiations as the talks are shrouded in secrecy. However, in May 2026, EDRi member Statewatch leaked a “revised version” of the draft Framework Agreement, revealing the direction the future deal has taken." https://edri.org/our-work/the-eu-is-about-to-sell-our-most-sensitive-data-to-the-us-for-visa-free-travel/ #EU #USA #Surveillance #Biometrics #Privacy #DataProtection

@edri@eupolicy.social Where can I opt out? Those who want to travel to the US should apply for a visa. I don't want my data in this fascistic system. Why will they give my data away when I never intend to travel in the US? #dataprotection #optout
