Meh. Seems our trusty old Synology NAS has developed a case of not booting up. Wasn't on my bingo card of things that had to go wrong now, but here we are.
And Synology has caught a severe case of late stage US capitalism it doesn't seem to be possible to just take the disks and put them in a newer unit as Synology now requires their own branded and expensive disks. Fucking fuck. We have backups, of course, but restoring somewhere is really annoying.

I got an e-mail from #Synology at 01:30 in the morning telling me a critical software upgrade was going to be applied and I had 10 minutes if I wanted to postpone. Is this normal in the world of computers?
