Happy #DigitalIndependance Day to those celebrating here in Canada. The 1st Sunday of the month is when we celebrate #DeGoogle efforts or start thinking about switching personal apps to more private and/or #OpenSource options.

Here's an update of where I am in this transition. Some things to keep in mind while reviewing my choices:

  1. I'm #Retired , therefore don't have to worry about work integration.
  2. I'm lazy, therefore it's taking me longer to DeGoogle .

This is mind-boggling… so little thought into cybersecurity consequences. That last sentence is doing so much heavy lifting, and could be considered obfuscating 🤯🤬 “EFTPOS NZ said biometric capabilities could be "deployed by retailers who wish to use biometrics, at a time frame that suits them and through their preferred supplier". The data "sits with their chosen consumer platform, governed by the same privacy regulations that apply to any other digital service", Kristy Gregory, head of merchant sales and strategic partners, told the New Zealand Herald.. Asked if there were valid privacy concerns around the tech, Young said there was "quite a lot of education and language that needs to be used so that everybody understands what it means".“ Those same privacy regulations and practices that have so far seen far too many breaches?! Those privacy regs? https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/business/837139/new-eftpos-terminals-remove-the-need-for-cards-or-phones #DataPrivacy #Biometrics #Eftpos #Verifone #Cybersecurity #InfoSec

Decentralized browser-based P2P E2EE messaging.

The key detail that sets this apart from other messaging apps is the browser-based client-side cryptography philosophy.

No need to install anything. Your ID is crypto-random and so the app doesnt need to rely on any central registration system like phone numbers. Your ID is unguessable and to connect to someone, you have to explicitly share it.

WebRTC has other nuances like being to route through a shared network for secure/faster transfer.

I hope this project has reached a level i can share the following details. I've made a genuine effort towards documentation and transparancy. I dont think it'll ever be enough and so im still concerned it isnt ready to share. While im using AI throughout. This is not a vibecoded project. There is attention throughout for unit tests and formal-verification. With your feedback, id like to make improvements for clarity throughout.

This version of the app demonstrates a fairly unique approach using a browser-based, local-only and webrtc approach. I know it's impossible for any system to be the "world's most secure", but that isnt a reason to not try. By rigorously implementing an exhaustive list of security features and practices, the aim is to get as close as possible.

This is intended to demonstrate client-side managed secure cryptography.

I know ive tried to compress a lot of my journey into one post. The project above is going to be tricky to understand. Feel free to reach out for clarity on any of the details.

IMPORTANT: While this is aiming to provide a secure experience, It is not audited or reviewedShared for testing, feedback and demo purposes only. Please use responsibly.

Your Shared Claude Chats May Be Appearing in Google Search

Public links created through Claude’s sharing feature were indexed by Google, making some conversations discoverable without knowing their URLs. This was not a leak of every private Claude chat, but it shows that a link described as shareable should be treated as a public webpage unless the service clearly prevents search indexing. Public AI share links are not the same as private links. Users discovered that site:claude.ai/share and site:claude.ai/public/artifacts searches returned publicly shared Claude conversations, exposing resumes, business discussions, and other sensitive content that had been indexed by search engines. Reports indicate Google began removing many results, but the incident is a reminder that public share pages can become discoverable unless they're removed or unshared. If you've ever shared a Claude conversation, review your shared chats and remove anything containing sensitive information. Would you trust your data to these chuckle heads? Researchers throw a giant red flag on Grok Build. When Grok Build reads or processes a file, the contents of that file were transmitted without redaction to a Google Cloud Storage bucket used by SpaceXAI. They also found that Grok Build packages entire repos and uploads them as Git bundles. Users also report an entire user directory, containing SSH keys, password manager databases, and more, were opened and uploaded. These uploads have now been stopped. https://www.theregister.com/ai-and-ml/2026/07/14/musk-promises-purge-after-grok-build-caught-sending-entire-repos-to-the-cloud/5271123 #Software #Code #Coding #GrokBuild #Repos #DataPrivacy #Data

Looking for info on electric vehicles and data privacy, and off grid solar systems that are not skeavy. Feeling the need to upgrade for many reasons but would also like to be aware and choose the least invasive companies and products. DOJ just lost its 16th straight case trying to force states to hand over voter data. 63% of those losses came from Republican-appointed judges — including the Trump appointee who just ruled against them in Connecticut. This isn't partisan. It's the law. https://www.leaklens.org/explainers/trump-doj-took-a-victory-lap-in-connecticut-then-it-became-their-16th-straight-voter-roll-loss #Voting #Privacy #DataPrivacy
