For the 1st time, after 30y of using the internet, I created a folder in my email inbox specifically for emails informing me that my data has been leaked on some platform. There were so many in the last 2y that I’m now going to start collecting them. The worst part is when it’s data from gov platforms or companies where you can’t provide false information, airlines, hospitals etc. When are we going to start punishing the entities that collect our data and fail to secure it? #dataprotection

@ada@blahaj.zone I would love to replace my Pixelfed account with Vernissage, but it's frustrating to have to start my account from scratch again (since I moved from Instagram to Pixelfed and couldn't import my photos). :( That's the only thing that keeps me on Pixelfed

@unattributed @Pixelix If the aim of the project is to obtain stats on GTS users, just be careful because GTS has a configuration that may create false number of users if the admin enables it.

@alecmuffett I stopped installing 'security' updates on my normal smartphone when they decided to launch AI at the operating system level. Will a hacker invade my smartphone? They would have to be really motivated to find nothing. But Google and Samsung collecting everything looks worse.

@hannsr @fihu And whenever people criticize his problematic behavior toward others, he plays the "indigenous" and "gay" cards. It's been the same script for years but it doesn't work anymore. One can be white, black, indigenous, gay, straight, transgender, or anything else, but if they disrespect others, they deserve to be criticized for it.

@WorldTravelerAll7 @chuff You can try this Friendica instance: https://social.trom.tf/ I don't know how Facebook is nowadays, so I can't say if it's the same thing but it's similar to the Facebook I used to use in 2010. I never found any friends on Friendica because none are on the Fediverse. I like Friendica, mainly the web version. No apps do justice to the platform. You can use Mastodon apps to connect to your account on Friendica, but you won't see many features. Just test it! 😊

@troed @DroidPort @protonprivacy If my company got attacked on social media like Proton did, I'd also leave. They couldn't say anything without being attacked and called the worst names. Their Instagram account is nice. They've got nice videos, some stupid jokes, and educational content. It's too bad that a lot of people on the Fediverse aren't able to get their content because of the many other people here that enjoy harassing others.

En les comparant aux documents légaux d'Ecosia, bien exhaustifs, on pourrait penser qu'Ecosia sont mauvais en matière de vie privée, mais en réalité, ce sont les autres moteurs de recherche qui ne décrivent pas clairement toutes leurs pratiques.

@obrow@framapiaf.org @jeeynet@framapiaf.org Je pense que cela dépend du sujet et langue. Si on recherche des avis sur des produits ou des comparatifs de prix, Google semble plus adapté. Pour les actualités, il semblerait que Bing soit plus efficace, même si je n'ai pas vérifié. (Cela dépend également des accords passés avec les éditeurs ; un petit moteur de recherche peut ne pas avoir accès à certains d'entre eux.) Comparer l'efficacité des moteurs de recherche en fonction de leur sujet est donc un sacré travail.
