#Europe is so obsessed with the discussion of the #Ceuta incident, not because it was a proper crisis which demanded a better political response than the one it got; rather, because it has stripped the #EU of its perennial mask of #hypocrisy, openly exposing all of its ugly, racist face. And they're aware of that.
If this was mainland #Spain we were talking about, maybe the panic would've been... maybe not justified, but perhaps expectable to a degree. But the events took place in #Africa, where the spaniards happen to keep a colony in the midst of what should be the moroccans own land. And there the moroccans drowned, and were expelled, as if they were a plague roaming the house instead of legitimate owners of the land. That the entire world had seen this development on their TV screens, is what makes europeans uncomfortable. Not the handling of the crisis. But the fact that the mainstream was exposed, in front of the world, as being in no way different to the radical right.
