The Bank of Canada governor defends using scab labour. The fucker. Scabbing is "supposed" to be illegal now in Canadian federal labour jurisdiction. #canlab #unions #labour #labor #scabs #strikes #generalstrike #Canada #cdnpoli #workersrights https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/bank-of-canada-governor-defends-replacement-workers-9.7292965

RE: https://follow.ethanmarcotte.com/@beep/117032894076902807 I just emailed the Wikimedia foundation and told them that I can't make a donation until @wwu@social.wikiworkersunited.org has a good deal. Here's their contact page if you want to do the same. https://wikimediafoundation.org/contact/ #TechUnions #unions #WikiMedia

The Wikimedia Foundation hasn’t just refused to recognize their workers’ unions; they’ve also hired one of the most notorious union-busting firms out there. https://medium.com/regarding-wikipedia/the-wikimedia-foundation-hired-the-union-busters-its-own-encyclopedia-warned-about-42b7142a5cd1 #1u #unions #TechUnions

A bundle of 150 games created by the United Videogame Workers union to support videogame industry workers in the US and Canada impacted by layoffs. My game Jack Dragon and the Stone of Peace is included in this Game Industry Hardship Fund bundle. You get that and 100+ other really cool games (like Skatebird, Cook Serve Delicious, A Short Hike, Arranger, Eldritch and loads of other good stuff) for just $10 USD. That's a BARGAIN!!! Cheap as chips! AND you get to help game workers who need it. Amazeballs! https://itch.io/b/3802/game-industry-hardship-fund #unions #GameWorkers #CWA #UVW #gamingnews #gaming #gamesale #indiedev #indiegames

"Some doctors are pushing to organize the 10,000 attending physicians within the University of California system, setting in motion what could become the largest union of employed physicians, organizers say. Factors driving the organization effort include hiring freezes, increasing patient loads, long hours, and clinician burnout..." https://www.medpagetoday.com/publichealthpolicy/workforce/122364 #heathcare #physicians #workers #labor #unions #organizing #california

Email sent to donate@wikimedia.org: I have previously donated to Wikimedia, and hereby state that all future donations are on hold until Wikimedia voluntarily recognizes labour unions in all countries where the foundation operates. I will also use whatever influence I have to further this opinion. This is not a threat, but a simple fact. Don't drag your feet behind you, please. Do the right thing. Sincerely (name) #Wikipedia #Wikimedia #unions

Yet another court defeat for #Trump! The mutiny of preverts thought it'd be cute last year to arrest #California union leader David Huerta for peaceful protest. The charges have now been dismissed. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/jul/27/doj-charges-california-union-leader-david-huerta #DOJ #unions

"Being a software engineer, he got to spend a little bit of time backstage with the developers, whereupon they revealed that most of the demos were faked ... Didn't stop them spouting absolute gibberish to a breathless audience for an hour though! I blame not the engineers, who probably tried to actually get the damn thing to work, but the lying blowhards who insisted that they must make the presentation or presumably be terminated." #NikhilSuresh, 2024 https://ludic.mataroa.blog/blog/i-will-fucking-piledrive-you-if-you-mention-ai-again/ (1/2) #unions

Discussions on a hike in Japan's minimum wage for fiscal 2026 have entered the final stage at a labor ministry panel but the gap between labor and management representatives remains wide. https://www.japantimes.co.jp/business/2026/07/27/economy/labor-management-gaps-wide-minimum-wage/?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=mastodon #business #economy #japaneseeconomy #wages #shunto #unions

People puzzled by the divergence between productivity growth & workers' wages (wages no longer follow productivity but are on a lower track) and observe the declining share of labour as opposed to capital in GDP, often downplay the decline of unions but scramble to find other causes, because any decline in unionisation predates the decline in workers' share. Well, they've forgotten the lag & stickiness in wages... a delayed effect is still a cause. Less unions, less pay! #workers #unions

March on Sunday in Mexico City in Defense of Cuba from La Jornada on FB July 24, 2026 [translated from Spanish by FB] Social organizations hope that the march in defense of #Cuba this Sunday in #MexicoCity will be massive, with a participation higher than that they have had in the mobilizations held every July 26 for decades, mainly to protest the hardening of Donald #Trump's government policy against the island and Washington's measures aimed at other countries and progressive movements. Olivia Garza Joa, vice president of the Association of Cubans Resident in #Mexico José Martí, explained that for more than a month, solidarity organizations with Cuba, social movements, urban and popular collectives, #unions, parties and other groups have come together to organize a unitary march. Hey, everyone, as I've mentioned a time or two, I'm in geo.coop. My big project is running our paper journal. The second edition will be coming out in the very near future. This time around, the topic is union worker co-ops. If you're interested in either unions or co-ops, and especially if you're interested in both, then I invite you to become a supporter: https://geo.coop/geo-journal #geo #unions #cooperative #workercoop @Matt_Noyes@social.coop @GuerillaOntologist@social.coop @geosocialcoop@social.coop

Replying to @LunaDragofelis@void.lgbt
@LunaDragofelis@void.lgbt I just came across a great explanation of why we as workers don't matter. Capitalism was always to some degree 'anti-human', and needed tight regulations to keep it from killing us in pursuit of profits, but it really got insanely bad when politicians and governments enthusiastically embraced neoliberalism. Forcing us back to the office has nothing to do with productivity and everything to do with expensive office space real estate, along with reminding workers they don't matter. https://helpfulprofessor.com/neoliberalism-examples/ #Unions #AbolishNeoliberalism #PrivatizeNothing
