Weekend garage sale bargain. I only use these twice a year (when teaching first aid classes), but after borrowing one twice from a friend here this year figure it was worth the $3. Sure beats what I *was* doing before, which was buying one or two Starbucks "Travelers" ($$$, plus they're not a giant anti-Union corporation). #coffee

Yemen introduced the world to coffee. Now, its coffeehouse culture is booming in the US https://apnews.com/article/yemen-coffee-cafes-taste-spices-war-72b5d2fdec7375cf476a6881810d8ce6?utm_source=flipboard&utm_content=Econopass%2Fmagazine%2FFLIPBOARD+EXCHANGE+FEED+%F0%9F%97%9E%EF%B8%8F SUNNYVALE, California (AP) — Hundreds of years ago, Yemen helped introduce the world to coffee. Lately, the mountainous, war-ravaged country that borders Saudi Arabia and Oman is exporting something else: its coffee culture. Yemeni coffeehouses are opening at a rapid pace across the U.S. The number … #food #coffee #yemen #history

RE: https://social.coop/@afewbugs/116504693190145349 Oat milk is the best milk to put in coffee. Although good high quality #coffee, that's not overly roasted is best black and how we recommend and roast to drink. Also, if you do choose a gluten free oat milk then you remove most allergens in what you are serving thus reducing your risk as a business.

TL;DR Don’t make americanos with the water from the steam boiler tap on the espresso machine. Something something dissolved gases. I am currently drinking a Steamed Americano à la James Hoffman, and I have to admit, it is a remarkably drinkable cup of coffee. Far better than traditional Americanos made with the hot water out of the espresso boiler tap that have always tasted flat and bitter to me. This one really does taste like a black coffee version of a cappuccino! Steamed Americano 1. Brew your espresso and skim the crema—this will be easier if you let your espresso rest for a minute. 2. Add 160g of water to your pitcher (the colder the better, you’ll have more time to steam), followed by your espresso. 3. Steam together until 60-70°C. Pour and enjoy! He also has a recipe for an iced Aerocano that I intend to try this afternoon when the weather warms up a bit more. https://www.patreon.com/posts/156675745 #Coffee #WeirdCoffeeScience

Good morning my pottery and peace loving friends! I just opened my first kiln firing after a long break from working in clay. Here's a first look at one of my favorites from the firing. Porcelain can be a fussy (and expensive) clay to work with, but I love the translucence so much, it's worth all the extra effort! Wishing you all a great Sunday! #pottery #clay #ceramics #peace #coffee #kenucky #handmade #mastoArt

The hashtag problem in CJK languages I keep thinking about how fediverse hashtag advice assumes English. In English, you can drop #coffee into a sentence and it still reads fine. The spacing already does most of the work. In Korean, Japanese, or Chinese, that feels much less natural. Chinese and Japanese have no spaces between words. Korean does, but particles and endings stick to the word, so putting a hashtag mid-sentence often just looks awkward or breaks the flow. So people tend to dump hashtags at the end, or skip them. That changes the usual “follow hashtags to find your community” advice. If people tag less, there's just less there to find. And the fediverse's discovery is already shaky enough without that. Not sure whether it's a UI problem or just hashtags fitting space-delimited languages better. But it seems like one of those small frictions that makes the fediverse harder to get into for CJK users.

Fun piece about coffee's role in prompting liberal thought: 'Coffee houses were not just places where people could gather to drink the newly imported dark liquid; they were debating chambers where people could test their opinions, “penny universities” where they could educate themselves, and social networking hubs where people of different classes could rub shoulders. 'Jurgen Habermas, the social philosopher who died last month, famously argued that coffee houses provided something radically new: a third space, or “bourgeois public sphere”, separate from the state or the home where people of all social ranks could meet and engage in open discussion.' #coffee https://www.smh.com.au/business/consumer-affairs/how-coffee-houses-brewed-up-a-liberal-world-20260412-p5zn5w.html

Good morning. 🌓🌔🌕 3 April 2026 I’m sitting here watching my cursor blink while I sip my coffee. Well—I was—before deciding to type something, anything, just to get the morning moving. Every time I pause, the cursor starts blinking again, as if nudging me to keep going. The coffee is unusually good today. I finally worked my way through the ten pounds of pre‑ground coffee I accidentally ordered a while back. You might remember me mentioning that, if you’ve been subjected to the morning minutiae I tend to spill onto the page. So this morning I had relatively fresh, French‑roasted whole beans to run through the grinder. I should probably order more right away rather than risk waking up one morning with no coffee. The horror 😱. Yes, I’m a practicing coffee snob—or at least I try to be. I have to admit I’m not a very accomplished one. If coffee snobs had belts, I’d probably be a green belt. Maybe even white. After all, I buy affordable beans and use a drip coffee maker. A black belt would be brewing Jamaican Blue Mountain at a hundred bucks a pound and probably using a French press with a sense of ceremony. I’m over here in the five‑to‑seven‑dollar range. Did you know there are coffee beans that cost over a thousand dollars per pound? Ospina Dynasty runs about $1,540 per pound. I only know that because I looked it up. I can’t imagine anyone paying that much for beans of any kind—except maybe Jack. What a poor example of a coffee snob I must be. And there it is again: the blinking cursor. “What goes best with a cup of coffee? Another cup.” — Henry Rollins “You can’t wait for inspiration. You have to go after it with a club.” — Jack London “I’m not a snob. Ask anybody. Well… anybody who matters.” — Simon Le Bon photo #photography #photographer #photographylovers #fullmoon #morning #coffee
