There are places and times where the ongoing approach of our deepest challenges are masked by the beauty around us. I suggest we take frequent refuge, that we heal our hope, that we recover our vitality, so we can return refreshed and ready to do the hard work of ensuring a more equitable future. #SilentSunday #NotSoSilent #photography #LandscapePhotography #colorado #mountains #uspol

Three years ago, an illegally constructed #logging bridge across the Highwood River in #Alberta sparked one of the largest grassroots campaigns to protect the Eastern Slopes of the Rocky #Mountains in recent history. Today, the proposed #clearcut, covering the equivalent of 1,500 soccer fields, is before the Federal Court, and recent #flooding may have changed the clearcut's future. 2 things. 1. If you are over 35 climate you grew up in (20th century) no longer exists, not coming back without restoration. 2. 5 yrs from now what we are experiencing will be the norm, 10 years out cooler than avg. Our extreme heat in July preceded by warm/dry OCT-APR already killing conifers vulnerable S-facing warm/dry slopes up to 2600m Lakefork Canyon. Longer periods of enhanced thermal belt effects 🔥. 28C at 2100m start our Canyon run, very dry. #climate #running #dogs #montana #mountains

Fabulous walk in the Black Mountains of #Powys today, close to Offa’s Dyke. Huge views from Lord Hereford’s Knob [stop giggling] and stunning scenery along Gospel Pass. Coffee in Hay-On-Wye castle to end the day trip. Perfect 😊 #GetOutside #Mountains #Cymru #hiking

Today we learned that the drought has been extended to all of Wales and this was the driest July since record-keeping began in 1836 nearly two centuries ago. So there's that. 😕 #TIL #Cymru #Wales #NorthWales #Porthmadog #Eryri #Snowdonia #Cnicht #drought #climatechange #globalwarming #sunnyday #sky #bluesky #bigsky #clouds #mountains #nature #Natur #landscape #Landschaft #naturephotography #landscapephotography #photography #Fotografie #amateurphotography

The trail up the ravine that I hiked last week ends with a steep rock headwall-- 600 ft (180m) floor to rim. It is well known for spring skiing where skiers hike to the top and ski down steep runs. Here is a sequence of pics of the headwall as I hiked to the top, beginning with the first view 2.5 miles (4km) into hike (top left) and ending when I was near the top looking across the headwall (bottom right). #MountainMonday #hiking #landscape #LandscapePhotography #photography #mountains

Upon arriving at the top of the headwall of the ravine in last week’s hike, I hiked along the ridge of the mountain range. This is a long, expansive ridge— 10+ miles (20km) long and very wide and rounded where I was. I hiked a relatively short distance to the next peak after which I began my descent. This section of ridge was mostly boulders marked by cairns. An easy section although very windy. #hiking #mountains #nature #photography #landscape #LandscapePhotography #NaturePhotography
