I wanted to post mountain photos more regularly again! So here's one trail from last year where I started really early to avoid the heat. It was a hike that I did alone and met just like ... 2 or 3 people. Oh and I was glad to have a water filter with me! I spotted a spring on my way up and - knowing that I'd come pack to it later - I didn't have to use my water sparingly. Enjoy! #hiking #mountainMonday #alps #alpen #nature #wandern

Today's run didn't exactly go as planned :/ The original idea was to run up a nearby mountain, but getting there meant entering a wildlife enclosure and climbing over a 3-meter fence (don't worry, there was a ladder). About 100 meters later I found a sign saying the trail shouldn't be used at this time of day... so that was the end of that plan -.- Instead, I turned around and continued to the end of the road to scout the start of another mountain trail that's still on my list. Today's run started like many others: I ran to the next town. But then I decided to keep going... all the way up to Peilstein, where I took the photo from the cliff. What was supposed to be a normal run turned into a 26 km adventure. Running home in the dark was surprisingly beautiful, with bats flying around me the whole way. Around the 20 km mark I could feel my energy fading, but there was only one way home: keep going. The faster I ran, the sooner I'd get home. Looking back, one thing really stands out. At the beginning I was completely lost in thought. By the end, my mind was empty. All I could think about was taking one step after another. This dashboard was generated with version 8 of my vibe-coded script. I implemented automatic background brightness detection, so the color gradient now adapts to each photo automatically. Glaciers in the Alps are melting at an alarming rate. The brief video shows what we witnessed two days ago at the end of our work trip in Tyrol and what the locals confirmed to us as extreme levels (not that it wasn't obvious)... It shows different tributaries and stages of outflow of remaining glaciers of the Weißkamm and Kreuzkamm feeding into the Rofental, a small side valley of the Ötztal. Two kilometers downstream is the confluence with a similarly intense drainage from the neighboring valley (Niedertal with glaciers of the Similaun group) Swiss glaciers are not much different: https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2026/jun/27/snow-and-ice-on-swiss-glaciers-melting-at-alarming-rate-amid-heatwave-expert-says "The snow and ice accumulated last winter by Switzerland’s glaciers is expected to have all melted away by Monday, marking the alarming second-earliest arrival on record of the tipping point known as glacier loss day. I promised butterflies and this one is extraordinary. It is a Scarce Copper (Lycaena virgauriae). Medium sized and an astonishing dayglo tangerine. This is a male. The female looks much more fritillary. #butterfly #Switzerland #Alps
