Looking back down a path through a meadow above Moorside, Oldham, on the slopes of Besom Hill, with the tower blocks of Manchester in the distance. #FootpathFriday

Path through edgelands in Derker, Oldham, Greater Manchester by the tram line to Rochdale. Though native to the area, the broom is quite likely a garden escape. #FootpathFriday

They freeze. We freeze, then walk very slowly along the grassy path trying - in vain - not to scare off an Eastern Cottontail. #FootpathFriday #rabbit #bunny #nature #NaturePhotography #SolaceInNature

I spied this just before arriving at Shaw and Crompton Tram Stop and thought it might be a path up the sides of the Beal Valley, and if not, a good photographic subject. It did show on some maps, but entry was barred by barbed wire and it ended at a farm, so I just took a photo rather than ascending this way. #FootpathFriday

The path winds through Mere Sands Wood, Lancashire, an excellent place to sit and watch results on the Merlin app! #FootpathFriday

This path between Besom Hill Brook and an old mill, which is now a distribution centre, is signposted but not on any map. At Moss Hey, Shaw, Oldham, Greater Manchester. #FootpathFriday

The reservoir feeder from Brushes Clough Reservoir to Besom Reservoir, and then on to a pumping station and reservoir at Watersheddings, is now an excellent track. The first two still exist, although Besom is now in private hands with high fences and warning signs but the pumping station and reservoir at Watersheddings are long gone and have left no apparent trace overground. This is between Sholver and Clough, Oldham, Greater Manchester. #FootpathFriday

I always like being in these kind of tunnels formed by foliage. This is the path back to the tram stop along the side of Top O Thi' Knowl in Shaw, Oldham. This path is on the 1890 map. #FootpathFriday
