Photographer living in central Arkansas. Explorer of nature, moments, and meaning through light and place. Prefer nature over noise; trees over traffic; fields over buildings. Skeptical of spectacle. Hate sauerkraut, but love dogs (the furry kind). On Mastodon since Nov 11, 2022. Most posts auto-delete after 3 months.
Incurably curious about everything computer security, even after too many years in the business. Also, I write things. https://www.megancarney.com tootfinder | tfr | searchable
Someone once told me I'm too sincere to be funny. Full-time caregiver to a disabled brother and father interested mainly in Thoreau, Zhuangzi, animism, Kings of Convenience, and drinking tea. Master's degrees in music theory and theology (nonpracticing), classically trained and folk musician (also nonpracticing), and I once organized and helped plant over 800 trees on abandoned mine land (I do still plant trees occasionally).
I live under a rock, occasionally emerging when the slugs run out of beer and start whining. Not quite round enough to be a roly-poly bug. Prone to odd humor.

Russulas are a genus of fungi that comes in cool colors. ID characteristics include:
-
Usually 2-4 inches high with a circular cap that’s one color. In this case, purple.
-
Most have white/cream gills. Stems are usually white, perhaps with a flush of color similar to the cap.
3/4. The color of many can be peeled to expose white flesh. I’ve been to craft fairs where artists have made dyes from them.
IDing down to the species is much more difficult. 🔬
