Depression Hover or focus to reveal Sensitive
A late entry for #JukeboxFridayNight with a #PersonalPlaylist. The first holidays I spent away from my family I was really sad. I had recently moved to the US for grad school and I could not travel home as I had upcoming field work. An old friend sent me by snail mail Beirut's album "The Flying Club Cub". My landlady gave me a tiny Christmas tree to put in my tiny apartment. My mom sent by international mail some gifts. I listened a lot to this album and those moments were the last happy things I remember before my depression set in. When I stopped smiling, it was the lyrics in the song what alerted me that something was wrong with me. "It's been a long time since I've seen your smile". And when things got very dark and I lost the ability to remember or think about music, this song stayed with me, like a lifeline to a different time, when I was a happy person. Before Twitter went with Musk, I had 6000 followers and we chatted about so many different things! Maybe not friends but friendly and mostly constructive. I miss those days. ALIEN WEAPONRY - 1000 Friends Deconstruction of social norms Communication without a voice Defenceless to combat the wave From society that keeps you a slave Save yourself before it sucks you in Disconnected living outside your skin 1000 friends and yet you're all alone Caught in the game lost inside the unknown 1000 friends, alone again https://youtu.be/R-2GKj25lQE #PersonalPlaylist #JukeboxFridayNight #NZmusic

#JukeboxFridayNight #PersonalPlaylist Wouldn't exactly say it's a favourite but I suspect I spent enough time listening to this while in the phone queue it warrants an entry! Warning - still not great despite (because of?) being autotuned to within an inch of its life! Immigration New Zealand - Come On Over So you’re thinking to make the move To another place and time The pasture just seems greener on this side Will you come and take a ride? We’ll dance all through the night To the tune of the southern stars up on high So you’ve packed your bags to fly You could be here tonight To start a brand new chapter in your life Take a road trip down the line Let the memories fill your mind And the Southern Cross keeps dancing through the night So come on over, come on over To the land of the long white cloud and the southern skies Where the locals make you smile Come play and stay a while Don’t you worry, take your time, and she’ll be right https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yF7eRDY2vg8

It was a difficult theme this week for #JukeboxFridayNight #PersonalPlaylist I have a high churn for favourites as I’m always on the lookout for new bands. I also have a million different memories associated to different songs/bands. However there is one band that has endured. #TheCure. First saw them live at Glastonbury and was wow’d. They were the first band I took my daughter to see live (Auckland 2016), starting her shared love of live music. And of all the songs The Forest is still my favourite, I’ve even used it as a soundtrack for this video. The Cure A Forest https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wqj71phqiQg

In the 1960s, my parents took the family “camping” every August, which somehow included seeing the polka cover band "The Impalas" performing on the tennis courts every Thursday night. At that age, I assumed anything loud that made grown-ups suddenly start thrashing around and singing along was rock and roll. As a result, “Who Stole the Kischka?” was my 3rd favorite rock song for several years. #PersonalPlaylist #JukeboxFridayNight https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7uxyg1aUaoI
