I want to thank my co-host @BranwenOShea@writing.exchange for the warm, creative and peaceful cooperation we've had over the years. And of course, I want to thank all of you, the #WordWeavers players for your wit, humor, wisdom and sincerity, for sharing your stories and your characters, for contributing community questions. Without all of you, there would be no WordWeavers. I'm happy that I got to do it and that I met all of you 🧡 Keep writing those amazing stories!

Dear #WordWeavers players! We've had so much fun together, but the time has come for me to "retire". The most important thing is the game will continue! @BranwenOShea@writing.exchange will keep it up 🧡 It's been almost 4 years of WordWeavers, plus WritingWonders before that. Those games have given me the most important thing in the new, unfamiliar place that was Mastodon: a community 🥰 So many interesting conversations, wonderful people and awesome books (some of them are still waiting to be read). 1/2

How long have you been working on your WIP? A few days, mostly collecting the arts and thinking how I will organise them. Also I spent some time reading several artbooks as inspiration How much longer do you think it'll take you to finish your WIP? Hopefully a few months (I plan to create several arts and to pay attention to the layout) #wordweavers 2026-05-01 & 2026-05-02

Is your MC aware of their flaw? Oh yes, Esther knows that all too well. #wordweavers 2026-05-05

Does your antagonist have any redeeming qualities? Lady d’Arcy thinks women shouldn’t be relegated in the shadows of men. She also considers that leonines aren’t just useless beings, opposite to the general opinion. #wordweavers 2026-05-07

MC POV: Describe your neighborhood. Esther: ”I live currently in the house my late husband owned in Kensington. Around it, everything is just high facades and ornate cornices, hosting weathly and powerful families that rule Great Albion, and by extension, the world. ” #wordweavers 2026-05-08 [Illustration: Esther ’s house in Kensington]

Are there any unusual societal norms in your world? Victorian societal norms started to be unusual, until some conservative people wanted them to make them the norm again 😒 #wordweavers 2026-05-09

What are the beauty standards like in your world and do they impact any of your characters? These were the standards of the Victorian era: For women, the ideal of beauty was inspired by illness (tuberculosis in particular): a pale complexion, dilated pupils, corsets, and heavy but brightly colored clothing that restricted movement and breathing. Men were expected to have an imposing physique (not necessarily strong, being fat was well perceived) wearing dark clothing. #wordweavers 2026-05-10

What role does romantic love play in your story? Not much, the only ones engaged in a romantic relationship are Lady D’Arcy and sir James #wordweavers 2026-05-12 [Illustration: Lady D’Arcy and sir James love]

What role does non-romantic love play in your story? The special bound between Esther and Érié is at core of the story. #wordweavers 2026-05-13

Which of all the characters you've ever written are you most proud of? Erié: it’s far more interesting to create a frail character than a supercharged boyscout. In fact she’s not really an SC, but the indissociable member of a duo, like Obelix for Astérix or Laureline for Valerian. #wordweavers 2026-05-14 [Illustration: rarely shared arts of Erié over the time]

What type of writing (novels, shorts, poetry, etc) comes more naturally for you? I would say Esther and Eire is roughly the equivalent of a novella. Most of the ideas I have are of this kind. #wordweavers 2026-05-15

Would your WIP still work if you changed the gender of your MC? Not at all: Esther and Érié relies on difference of treatment between men and women during the Victorian era. #wordweavers 2026-05-16

How would your MC react to being handed a kitten? It happens and Esther hires her as a maid #wordweavers 2026-05-17§ [Illustration: Érié licking herself and purring]

What % of your typical day involves writing|writing-adjacent activities (including thinking about it, lol). Currently, less than 1%. Between September and March, around 8% (2hrs a day) #wordweavers 2026-05-18

Does your MC enjoy haircuts or hair styling? As a Victorian lady, being properly hair dressed is extremely important. Esther and Érié can spent hours to get the expected result. #wordweavers 2026-05-20

How do you make your MC likable or relatable to in the first chapter? Esther appears ill, mentally fragile, and without support from her family. #wordweavers 2026-05-21

If your antagonist came with a warning label, what would it be? If your MC came with a warning label, what would it be? Don’t mess with me or at your own risk #wordweavers 2026-05-22 & 2026-05-23

If your characters were pets, what would they be and how would they react? Esther: In the animal kingdom, males are the ones supposed to present themselves well in order to attract females. Esther would be a male peacock. Erié: As already stated, she’s seen a pet by most Lady d’Arcy: She would be one of those parasites who force their host to have stupid (and deadly) behaviours #wordweavers 2026-05-24
