Dang, I'm so emotional right now. Someone IRL gets me. With my new rockstar GI doctor, she had ordered two imaging to be done. I waited what I thought was an appropriate amount to schedule with Imaging, and then have done several follow ups. But I realized I was being "too much" and apologized to their front desk. I said I was scared for the reason for the one imaging, and get in my head and try to do *something* to move it along. But I would do my best to be more zen to not push them away. But instead of chiding me, they said: Oh no, no, you are all good! We totally get it and want to make sure we are all on the same page! Please don't ever hesitate to reach out. Have a great day! I'm not crying, those are water droplets from the sky. 🥹 #Doctors #Kindness

Since yesterday, Mira has been crying from a toothache, and all I could do was give her a painkiller. Today I took her to the dentist, and he said she needs a root canal and a filling. The treatment costs $60 which is an amount I can't afford. Sometimes what we need to hear isn't "You can do it!" Or "Don't give up!" but instead "It's okay to realize something isn't working for you." Or "You can try again later." Or even "You didn't fail. You learned something, and that counts." Sometimes pushing hard and cheering someone on is helpful to them. But it's just as important to realize when someone needs your compassion and gentleness, and to hear that they're still wonderful in your eyes if they don't, or didn't, meet their goals. Yesterday afternoon a man on a motorcycle made a u-turn in front of me and Benson and stopped his bike. Him: Hey, you have a good looking dog. Me: Thanks. Him: (turning off his motor) Can I give him a treat? Me: Um sure. Kinda random. Him: Well, world peace has to start somewhere. He handed me some extra treats and rode off after he gave one to Benson. #BensonUpdate #kindness

"Nie jest prawdą, że zmiana jest niemożliwa. Świat zmienia się nieustannie, z każdym naszym wyborem, świadomym i nieświadomym. Im częściej wiemy, co wybieramy, tym większy jest nasz wpływ na dokonujące się zmiany. Nasze decyzje mają konsekwencje. Możemy dać się nieść napływającym zewsząd informacjom, przebierać wśród nich, kierując się jedynie przyjemnością, ciekawością, instynktem. Możemy też spróbować spojrzeć na te przypływy z dystansu, oddzielić to, co istotne, od nieistotnego i zdecydować, która ze spraw stanie się naszą sprawą. Nie jest prawdą, że te nasze wybory są bez znaczenia, bo wielkie procesy toczą się ponad nami i nasza wola nie ma tu nic do gadania. Owszem, wpływ nasz jest ograniczony, niemal niezauważalny – ale jak najbardziej realny. Im więcej osób nie przechodzi na ukos przez trawnik, tym większa szansa, że trawa nie zostanie zadeptana. Im więcej z nas wyszukuje w internecie treści niegłupie, tym większe prawdopodobieństwo, że tych treści będzie przybywać. Im więcej głosujących za tym, co rozsądne, a nie jedynie za tym, co kuszące, tym większa nadzieja, że nie zamienimy naszego świata w piekło. Nie jest prawdą, że ten świat już się nim stał. Owszem, jest na świecie wiele miejsc strasznych i wielu ludzi doświadcza czegoś, co można by nazwać piekłem. Przemoc, prześladowania, głód, rozpacz, ubóstwo, odrzucenie – różne są imiona ziemskich piekieł. Nie ma innego sposobu na uratowanie tych, którzy się w nich znaleźli, jak tylko zaangażowanie się po ich stronie. Gdyby każdy z nas spróbował odpowiedzieć na choćby jeden głód, jedną rozpacz, rzucić wyzwanie jednemu ubóstwu czy jednemu prześladowaniu, piekło byłoby mniejsze. Świat uzdrawiają wielkie programy i małe gesty. Każde wyjście poza siebie, poza własny interes – to szansa na sprowadzenie nieba między ludzi. I am a giving person. Sharing what little good I have has always brought me immense joy. A meal, a book, a spare hour, a kind word, a place to rest, if I have it, my instinct is to share it. But life has this irritating habit of teaching the same lesson until one finally pays attention. The older I get, the more I notice a pattern. Some people don't simply accept kindness; they calculate it. They see generosity not as a gift, but as an opportunity. The few boundaries I ask to be respected are treated as invitations to negotiate rather than limits to accept. And when I finally say "no", they appeal to my compassion, hoping guilt will accomplish what respect would not. That doesn't feel like respect anymore. It feels a lot like emotional blackmail. I don't understand it. Why is the world so often like this? Why do some people see an open hand and immediately wonder how much more they can take? I don't want to become hard. I don't want suspicion to replace generosity. I don't want every act of kindness or joy to come with a ledger and a lock. All I've ever wanted is to be a little like a tree (of trees were purple): rooted in who I am, growing as well as I can, offering shade where I can, and standing not alone, but as part of a forest where we look after one another instead of stripping each other bare. Perhaps that isn't naïve. Perhaps it's simply the kind of world worth trying to grow. 💜 #Kindness #Boundaries #MutualCare #Humanity #Community #Solidarity
