The temptation to use a different, non-fedi social to share my writing and poetry and thoughts is pretty tempting sometimes. Like, okay. I don't write smutty spice, or poetry, or whatev else for money, or to build a brand, or to get ppl to sub to my stuffs, but IS nice when ppl read and comment. Mostly tho, I (and other indie writers I guess) are invisible. Lol, I guess the writing bot likes my stuffs? I've tried Archive Of Our Own but at least my experience was that if u aren't writing fanfics, u are invisible. Maybe I was doing it wrong? There's Tumblr, Bluesky, I guess? I hate that if I want real feedback, I have to compromise and use the ick tho! And I mean TOS and data miners ugh. #fedi #fediproblems #writing #writers #Bluesky #Tumblr

Fedi, u need to do better supporting the arts. I am not exempting myself from that. 1) If u follow artists, authors, poets, musicians and enjoy their stuffs, fking TELL them. Like right now. 2) Go out and find some artists u don't follow. Follow them, encourage them, show them that they're not screaming into a void. 3) Have cashs to burn? Maybe buy stuffs, donate, show them that they matter. More on this later. #Fedi #Art #SupportFediArt

Minor note about something: I've been following the development of assorted #Fediverse #Distros on #Github since spring 2023 Currently subscribe to, or follow: Aurae, Bitchat, Bluesky, Bonfire, Discourse || Meta, Fedi_Reports, FediDB, Glitch_Soc, GoToSocial, Haidra, Hister, LemmyNet, Loops, Mastodon, Maven, Nivenly, Nostr, OpenClaw, Phanpy, Pixelfed, Snarfed-Bridgy, WC3_ActivityPub Not interested in code or coding in the least: that would have been 20 years ago Only watching the features and issues raised, and how they're addressed and responded-to by admins and devs Watching how admins and devs respond to the (very few) members of the public who ever post on Git with requests or suggestions Most of those are ignored completely So now most days I just wholesale-delete what's shown up over night, and start each day afresh, scanning all before delete So: @ 7:40 am PDT: delete an even 300 Github posts in trash from overnight, and reset Interesting, and a mostly-unseen side of the legendary #Fedi Here: https://github.com/MadokVaur

Dear admins, mods, and modmins... Alas, the same "open registration" instances are used over and over again to harass and troll the fedi. Yes, we understand the arguments for allowing open registration. But tbh? We find those arguments unconvincing given the abuse we see. The fedi has a serial troll / spammer problem and open registration contributes to its continuation. Offering them the means to register and immediately harass people makes for a less friendly fediverse, not a more friendly one. Reviewing a "reason for joining" before approving an account is not too much to ask. If it is, then we respectfully suggest that the instance has either too many members or too few moderators. When an instance becomes a go-to for trolls because it offers instant access, that instance creates work for every other federated instance, makes fedizens into victims, and feeds the trolls' need for attention. That there is such a simple solution (manual approval / vibe check) is kind of infuriating at times. We know that this plea / request will not convince those driven by growth and open registration no matter the cost to the fedi community. But if we convince at least one open registration instance to switch to screened approvals, we will consider it a win. Lastly: If you're on an open reg instance, we suggest POLITELY asking your admin / mods to change their policy. #fedi #FediMods #FediModerator #FediAdmin

People crapping all over #Mozilla for having an X account now, yet I see #fedipeeps with X account links on their bios, #FOSS projects with X links on their homepages... I despise X and Musk, but maybe be a little more consistent. And I have publicly rebuked FOSS projects on #fedi for having X account links on their homepages, asking them just what Musk would have to do to get them to delete it. If you're gonna go scorched earth, be consistent with it, otherwise its just sparkling douchebaggery. Like, if the Linux distro you use has an X or Meta account (and many of them do), but you haven't said anything about that... BRUH. #kthxbai
