@DailyGaza@kolektiva.social Hello, just a tip: Please don't put a link in the image description, just put it in the post. Screen readers don't recognise a link, so will read it like "ee three seven nine af two dee five five" etc etc. They also don't work as a link in the AltText. If you want your pictures accessible: just write a short description like: an older person's hand holding a child's hand. Or: A young woman sitting in the rubble, wearing red clothes and hijab. She looks away from the camera. Or ask someone to write an AltText by using #ALT4me in your post. Then you can copy the text, edit your post, paste it in the image description, and toot again. Liebe Leute: Alttext ist was wunderbares. Es ist so ein klitzekleines Ding zu zeigen, dass wir PRO Inklusion und Barrierefreiheit sind. Macht ein wenig Mühe manchmal. Aber die Wirkung ist phänomenal: andere, die nicht sehen können, können an unseren Bildern und Videos teilhaben. Und es hat zusätzliche Info platz, z.B. This week, the Director of AI Safety at Meta gave OpenClaw unrestricted access to her emails. It nuked her inbox, pulled up hundreds of old emails, and deleted them too. Then, she tried to scold it. AS IF AI CAN FEEL GUILT. I know you're all *here*, but if you also happen to still have a Facebook or Instagram account, maybe consider who's in charge over there and how competent they are. I don't know who needs to hear this, but if you're yelling at a person on Fedi for not using #AltText, stop. Please. Should you use alt-text? Yes! Should you boost posts without alt-text? No! Should you yell at companies and bots who don't use alt-text? Fuck yeah! Should you try your best to make Fedi a more accessible, and safe place for everyone—including those who have trouble writing alt-text? Of course. Should you mention @altbot@fuzzies.wtf or #Alt4Me *occasionally* so folx know they're both wonderful tools that can help make Fedi a more inclusive place? It would be impolite not to. But—and let me make this clear—don't be a dick to folx who forget alt-text, or who have trouble writing it for whatever reason; it's not very punk of you.
