1,280 #Wikimedia volunteers have pledged willingness to go on strike in solidarity with #WikiWorkersUnited https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Wiki_Workers_United_solidarity making us less than 100 signatures from being the most supported proposal or petition in the history of the English-language #Wikipedia. I never expected the level of support this would get, but I also never expected that the main driver of that support would be the #WikimediaFoundation managing to do the exact wrong thing at every possible turn.

The thing that really gets me with the Wikimedia Foundation's response to their staff wanting a union: Imagine you're charged with running the world's biggest free knowledge resource, which is only possible because of an army of nerds who love nothing more than fact-checking. So, I read some of what the former employee of the #Wikimedia Foundation said, and holy shit, the actions of seniors towards many employees were terrible. This is why I stepped back from editing. WMF has become a Big Tech machine and we are unable to fight back against seniors' pressure.

Merci à toute la communauté pour cette édition inoubliable de Wikimania Paris ! Près de 3250 personnes ont participé à la conférence, 1250 en présentiel et près de 2000 en ligne. Et pour un tiers d'entre elles, il s'agissait de leur première Wikimania ! Ensemble, les participants cumulent plus de 150 millions de contributions sur les projets #Wikimedia ! Soyons fier(e)s d'avoir fait rayonner les couleurs de la connaissance libre à Paris et de faire partie de cette belle communauté mondiale.
