The Wikimedia Foundation hasn’t just refused to recognize their workers’ unions; they’ve also hired one of the most notorious union-busting firms out there. https://medium.com/regarding-wikipedia/the-wikimedia-foundation-hired-the-union-busters-its-own-encyclopedia-warned-about-42b7142a5cd1 #1u #unions #TechUnions

Financial firms want a bigger piece of the $10 trillion in America’s 401(k) plans, and the #Trump administration is planning a regulatory rollback to encourage less-regulated — and often riskier — investments. https://portside.org/2026-07-10/wall-street-wants-change-rules-your-401k-it-could-put-your-retirement-risk #1u

Few figures on the left have been as committed to realizing the democratic promise of American politics as Eugene Debs. https://portside.org/2026-07-05/what-eugene-debs-was-fourth-july #1u

One year ago yesterday, the so-called "Big Beautiful Bill" was signed into law. It took millions off healthcare, jacked up electric bills, gave $1 trillion in corporate welfare payments to the 1%, and canceled clean energy contracts. Corporate welfare is not the answer to our problems. Supporting your local union is. #1u

Facing a massive budgetary crisis, Zohran Mamdani is breaking with technocratic norms to openly explain the deficit while reiterating his pledges to oppose austerity and tax the rich — which means walking a political tightrope with Gov. Kathy Hochul. https://jacobin.com/2026/01/mamdani-nyc-budget-tax-rich #NYC #NewYork #1u

On November 1st, 1977, President Carter signed a law raising the minimum wage to $3.35 an hour from $2.25. He was flanked by people who were there in 1938 when FDR signed the first minimum wage into law. But on the same day, the US withdrew from the ILO. It may have had its issues, but all that did was send mixed messages to the 99% about the commitment of the Democratic Party to organized labor. And then the Democrats wonder why they lost in 1980 to Ronald Reagan. #1u

Black workers formed the Colored National Labor Union (CNLU) during the National Colored Convention (NCC) in Washington, DC in 1869. The convention focused on securing the right to vote, access to education, and constitutional rights in the post-Civil War Reconstruction Era. The was a reaction to the forming of the National Labor Organization in 1866 that excluded Black workers. https://www.laborpress.org/first-national-union-formed-for-black-workers/ #BlackHistory #1u
