“The #US embassy in #London is offering grants of up to half a million dollars for new “public education” programmes in what has been criticised as interference in #UK domestic politics. Using language that the pro-Trump #Maga movement has sought to appropriate, a funding notice identifies a goal of fostering a “national conversation” about “shared civilizational values”. “ https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/aug/08/us-accused-of-meddling-in-british-politics-with-500000-grant-scheme-promoting-shared-values

"If you are using your microphone, you are more likely to be arrested under the #TerrorismAct", — warned a heroic officer of the #MetropolitanPolice in #London on Thursday. Luckily for Londoners, this microphone #terrorism was halted by prompt arrest of the #terrorist. I heard no mention of #PalestineAction. It seems that this was a crackdown on Microphone Action. And Karaoke. #MetPol keeps London safe from karaoke. Video via Tony Zimnoch https://www.facebook.com/share/r/1DE6FdubUB/ #Palestine #DefendOurJuries

Dear Friends with a garden, you lucky critters,

  • I am going to sit in mine to watch the grass growing. Actually only have a strand of wheat but my garden is tiny enough to cherish and listen to London constantly rebuilding and renovating.

  • A good day for Fridays when all manner of fries are permissible eg. Air fried battered fish 'N chips (no not computer chips or crisps)

  • CU later snap dragons In a whiled garden ...eh's...

Washington calls Britain a "poor catastrophe" Special relations between the United States and Britain, which held for almost a century, are fading, writes The Hill. America is gradually turning from an indispensable partner of Britain into one of many centers of a multipolar world. And #London is losing its position as the deputy American sheriff, zealously safeguarding U.S. hegemony. https://inosmi.ru/20260806/bernem-279577892.html

#London #UK Ahead of BP’s profit announcement on 4th of August, campaigners from the Make Polluters Pay Coalition inflated a giant oil barrel outside the Houses of Parliament in London, urging governments to back a permanent stronger taxes on fossil fuel profits and support strong UN tax talks https://350.org/press-release/big-oil-giant-bp-banks-blockbuster-profits-as-climate-disasters-strike-across-the-globe/?r=CA&c=NA #ClimateChange #UpheavalClimate #ClimateInstability #ClimateReversal #MassAtrocity #pollution #ecology #environment #climate #ClimateStrike

My favourite paintings, No.2 Walter Sickert. Ennui (1914) Walter Sickert's classic Ennui is a lot larger than you might think; its almost life size, not the chamber picture reproductions might lead you to believe. This portrait of a couple lost in their own world's of banal disengagement from each other, sums up something about the human condition; often we are not being active nor engaged but rather taken up with our own thoughts (even without smartphones!) #art #TodaysPainting #London

Co & Ko Starters: £5-£10.5; Dishes: £10.5-£25.5 Situated in SOHO, this small restaurant has a large selection of Korean dishes. We didn't fancy the warm soups and broths on such a warm day, but instead opted for the traditional grilled meats. We're sure that the broths would work very well in the autumn or winter. As our starter we shared a bowl of K Pop Chicken, which turned out to be crispy cubes of chicken with a sweet sauce. For our mains, my wife enjoyed a classic Lamb Bulgogi — pan-fried thin-sliced marinated lamb. I opted for something new from their menu, the Bossam — a 12-hour slow cooked and grilled Pork belly. One of the reasons why we chose Korean cuisine for this evening, was to try a Korean beer and a Makgeolli. The beer as part of our quest to try a beer from each of the 48 participating World Cup countries. The Makgeolli because it was a style of Korean drink that we had never previously tried. We had the plain variant at Co & Ko, and subsequently purchased a chestnut flavoured option from one of the South Korean supermarkets that seem to be springing up in London. The food at Ko & Co was nice, and it had a good ambiance. On a hot summer evening we were grateful to be sat in front of the open window. Judging by the rest of the clientele, the restaurant seems to be popular with the Korean community. There was a steady stream of diners coming and going, enjoying the delicious looking food. After our meal, we were still a little thirsty — it was a hot evening after all — and shared a Soju. An enjoyable and relaxing way to finish our meal. We would definitely return and recommend Co & Ko.

#London, Thursday: heroic #MetropolitanPolice officers arrested at least 117 terrorists, mostly elderly. In a sinister escalation, many of the terrorists displayed no sign of their opposition to #genocide or support for #PalestineAction. #MetPol arrested the terrorists for the sickening crime of sitting on the pavement. Others were arrested for attending court as summoned.
