#introduction Hi, I am newish here. I go back and forth with whether or not mastodon is really for me. So I am back for now. I hope this time will be different. In these times, I feel like I really need some form of connection that I am not generally getting in my life. I have a list of things I am interested in in my bio, but I would love to discuss #mycology #economics (with an #anticapitalist slant) #weather (particularly supercells) #bikes #trainhopping and #music ...

Where there's a will there's a way.
A modest entry in the #CarryShitOlympics, but it wasn't aided by my neglecting to bring any bungee straps.

I also had a lovely conversation with and older lady cyclist at the supermarket. She arrived as I was attempting to strap the box to my bike, so I vacated the single cycle rack for her.
We started talking about the general lack of cycle parking in #NewPlymouth and ended up discussing the Queen St pedestrianisation project, the tim-tam cycleway and the upcoming election.
You just don't get these kinds of interactions traveling by car.

Took him out for a 5km ride in the midafternoon sun and he’s out like a light.
Normally I’d put something over his face for his privacy but the sunnies sitting askew do that well enough! #UrbanArrowAdventures #UrbanArrow #Quaxing #Bike #Cycling #Bikes #Wellington #LowerHutt #CargoBike

One of my greatest joys in life is riding my #bike on and off #WashingtonStateFerries. The rush of #bikes on and off.
#Bicycles are first on, first off. It's a joy to see and be a part of. Especially, off. Everyone must wait and watch as the #BikeRiders are given priority.
Seriously. #Joyful.
Quoting
Untold thousands of miles, my #bike and I.
There's a maxim I learned in 1991 that says, "Riding hard is easy. Riding easy is hard."
I ride my #bicycle hard most times. My whole body is alive and engaged. #Cycling is a core aspect of my life. It's my soul. It's everything I am. It makes me whole. It is foundational to my #MentalHealth. I am empty without it.
500 characters is not enough...
Trip: On June 20, I took the Bronx River bike path to Valhalla, to the dam, and then took South County Trail back to Manhattan. On my way to Bronx River, I stumbled upon a bike race around Marcus Garvey Park. Well, I dressed like a racer, except for my camera and handlebar bag. Racers don't need those, which don't help with racing. Did some tuning to my garbage bike (i actually found it in the garbage bin). I can keep up with e-bikes now
🙂
The bicycle is one of the most underrated pieces of technology, yet one of the very few that can take you back to your inner child.

The bolt holding the bike seat to the post sheared off today, making the seat flip back as I was riding. Pretty scary and also an odd fail for the bolt. Thought @ai6yr@m.ai6yr.org might find it interesting!

At the Cycle-Race Track (Au Vélodrome)
Jean Metzinger, 1911
Metzinger's earlier art had a bright impressionist style like Van Gogh's, and over time he moved toward what would become cubism. I really like the transparent and cubist elements here. But it's still recognizable as a cyclist!
