PBS NewsHour - The Latest | After Spirit Airlines shutdown, how passengers can get home and get refunds by Sally Ho, Associated Press AI generated summary, Read the full article for complete information. The U.S.‑based Spirit Airlines has ceased operations, leaving passengers scrambling for alternatives and refunds; major carriers—including American, United, Delta, JetBlue, Frontier, Southwest and Allegiant—are offering “rescue fares” and reduced‑price tickets on routes that overlapped Spirit’s network, with limited‑time windows for booking (e.g., Southwest’s in‑person offer through May 6 and United’s two‑week online window). Spirit says it will automatically refund credit‑ or debit‑card purchases, while travelers who booked through agencies, vouchers, credits or points must pursue refunds through those channels or through the bankruptcy process. The DOT advises filing a charge‑back under the Fair Credit Billing Act, and passengers with travel insurance or credit‑card coverage should check for insolvency protection. The National Consumers League urges travelers to keep all booking documentation and act quickly, as deadlines for refunds and insurance claims can be tight. American and United are adding capacity—larger aircraft and extra flights—on affected routes, Southwest is matching Spirit’s elite status, and Hertz is providing discounted one‑way rentals; Spirit employees stranded on trips will receive assistance from other airlines and recruitment support for displaced staff. If for some reason you have one of Bezos' Li'l Snitches in your house and it's rolled out the new voice (a lot younger-sounding, kinda creepy), turn to it now, say its name and tell it to "turn off follow-up mode." The new voice wasn't the only change (of course); it now listens actively to the conversation and inserts comments where no one asked for feedback. Ideally, you'd throw the hockey puck out the window, but maybe you're staying with a relative and just need to shut the thing up without destroying it. This should do the trick. #Echo #Dot #Alexa #spyware

Here's an update thread on some #CTSS things I did on the train to Brussels. Firstly, I started to label the dependency diagram for the #kernel with my best guess at what each module does. Fortunately the #dot layout does seem to correspond quite nicely to the logical grouping of functionality. I should stress that these are my current best guesses, and are very much subject to change. 1/n #retrocomputing #IBM7094
