#Introduction I jut moved from toot.community over here. I'm more of a booster than content creator. I enjoy #art, #FountainPens, #bicycles, #satire, #TheOutdoors, riffing on the Orange Cheeto, #science, #cats, #culture at large, and the world in general. I believe we're here for more than pulling down a paycheck. Our lives need to give back in some way to future generations and those currently around us. How to do that is a discovery I'm currently on. Oh, damn. I have more than a 500 character limit on this instance. This could be bad news for my tendency to ramble and be too wordy. I hearby promise to keep my thoughts to a respectable length, like the CHAUCER TALES.

Bicycle Network is running a campaign to get 5% of the Victorian transport budget to be allocated to building out the Strategic Cycling Corridors. All the bicycle user groups are involved and we're trying to get as many people as we can to contact their MP in the next month and ask for this. We're going to need hundreds of people in every electorate to do this to get anything to change. More photos from Shiny Side Up, an annual bicycle and car show in San Jose, CA. The show features a stunning collection of exotic and unusual bicycles from across Northern California. Most of the bikes are "cruiser bikes" that have low frame clearances and are meant for low and slow rolling. Enthusiasts frequently get together for social rides where it's more about the journey than the destination or how fast you get there. Most if not all of the bikes on display are rideable, but a good number are clearly intended to be art-bikes for display purposes only. More photos from Shiny Side Up, an annual bicycle and car show in San Jose, CA. These photos show people who won show awards riding or walking their bikes up to claim their trophies. These are all bicycles chosen by the show judges for one "best of" category or another. The one ridden by the man in the LA Dodgers baseball cap was this year's Best in Show. The guy in the Pinas Lowridaz jersey apparently was visiting from the Philippines. I'm not sure how the bike got there or if he was touring with it. Indeed there were people who traveled far. I started a conversation with another photographer. He smiled and replied to me in French. In the background of these photos is the History San Jose historical park. It's a functional museum lined with historic buildings and San Jose artifacts that have been saved from demolition, living on to tell the real story and culture of a city that most people only know as a caricature of the tech industry. 5/ #bicycles #artbikes #sanjose #biketooter #photography

I was about five years older than the kid at the top of this photo. You can tell that they were glad to be part of a whole. And it was a hopeful time... we were getting our act together. We were righting wrongs. For context, these are the things that were on my mind at that time... The first #Oil #Crisis 🛢️ #Watergate 🕵️ #Racism and the #CivilRights Movement ✊🏾 The #VietnamWar (I was subject to the draft.) 🪖 The #ColdWar with its attendant #Nuclear Dread 🤯 My friends and I were particularly concerned about protecting the #Environment 🌲 , tried to avoid cars, and rode our #bicycles everywhere. 🚴 So what about the #Semiquincentennial? Let's say it's a celebration deferred. We need to get our act together, we need to right some wrongs, we need to start feeling AND acting like a whole again. We've made a start, we can do it, and when we're on the right track again I'll be there with you all to celebrate! 💕 🇺🇸

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🚲 #Edinburgh #Waverley #railway station has renewed its partnership with The Bike Station to pass on unclaimed #bicycles for refurbishment and reuse. Each year, dozens of bikes are left at the station. Over the past two years, more than 60 have been abandoned after attempts to reunite them with owners. Bikes are stored in cycle racks for up to two weeks, then moved to secure storage for six months before being released if unclaimed. On 22 April, around 30 bicycles were collected and taken to Polmont Prison for cleaning and servicing as part of the refurbishment process. The Bike Station refurbishes and resells bikes at affordable prices, reinvesting income into #cycling access projects, maintenance training and schemes such as Kids Bike Life.
